Scene Setter

• No. 19-ranked University of Central Missouri Jennies Soccer (6-1, 1-0 MIAA) is scheduled to travel to Hays, Kan., and Kearney, Neb., for a pair of MIAA road matches on Friday, Sept. 25, and Sunday, Sept. 27. UCM is slated to take on the Fort Hays State Tigers (2-4-1, 0-2 MIAA) on Friday at 7 p.m. in Hays at the FHSU Soccer Stadium before facing the Nebraska Kearney Lopers (2-4-2, 0-2 MIAA) in a noon showdown on Sunday at Ron & Carol Cope Stadium at Foster Field in Kearney. 
• The Jennies are coming off a 4-0 shutout win over the Newman Jets in their 2026 home and MIAA opener on Sunday, Sept. 20, at the South Recreation Complex in Warrensburg. 
• Through seven matches, the Jennies are paced offensively by senior midfielder Ryann Clark (3 G, 1 A, 7 Pts., 6 Shots, .500 shot percentage, 4 SOG, .667 SOG percentage, 2 game-winning goal), sophomore midfielder Coryn Jespersen (1 G, 7 A, 9 Pts., 15 Shots, .067 shot percentage, 7 SOG, .467 SOG percentage, 1 game-winning goal), and senior forward Hadley Lockhart (3 G, 6 Pts., 7 shots, .429 shot percentage, 6 SOG, .857 SOG percentage). Senior goalkeeper Kristen Wright (6-1, 1 GA, 0.16 goals-against average, 10 SV, .909 save percentage, 3 shutouts, 3 combined shutouts, 45 shots faced, 565:44 minutes) leads UCM between the posts.
• Through seven matches, the Jennies are third in the MIAA in scoring with 19 goals and second in goals allowed, giving up just one goal on the season so far.

• The Jennies are ranked No. 19 in the latest IWSOC/United Soccer Coaches Division II Top 25 Poll released on Tuesday, Sept. 22. 

Last Time Out: Jennies Shut Out Newman in Home Opener, 4-0

• No. 24-ranked University of Central Missouri Jennies Soccer coasted to a 4-0, shutout win over the Newman Jets in its 2026 home and MIAA opener on Sunday afternoon, Sept. 20, at the South Recreation Complex.
• Hannah Borgstadt got Central Missouri on the scoreboard early, netting her second goal of the season off an assist from Coryn Jespersen just over 11 minutes into the match.
• UCM's final three goals of the contest all occurred in the second half.
• Hadley Lockhart controlled a pass from Jespersen and blasted it into the back of the net in the 47th minute, increasing the Jennies' lead to 2-0. It was Lockhart's team-high-tying third goal of the season.
• Freshman Annie Slamin slammed home a goal off an assist from Kylie Richardson in the 84th minute, her second collegiate goal, and Richardson tallied her first goal of 2026 three minutes later in the 87th minute via Jespersen's third assist for the contest for UCM's fourth and final goal.
• With the three assists, Jespersen tied her program single-match record of three assists set in Central Missouri's 4-0 win at Harding on Sept. 11. She leads the Jennies and is tied for the NCAA Division II assists lead with seven so far in 2026.
• For the match, UCM outshot Newman (0-6-2, 0-2 MIAA), 25-6, including a 9-1 advantage in shots on goal. The Jennies also bested the Jets in corner kicks, 7-1.
• Central Missouri goalkeeper Kristen Wright (6-1) earned her third shutout of the season between the posts after allowing zero goals and making one save in 90 minutes.

Home Sweet Home

• Dating back to the 2016 season, the Jennies are 95-9-3 at the South Recreation Complex. During that span, UCM has surrendered just 72 goals.
• All-time at the South Recreation Complex, UCM is 170-19-10 under head coach Lewis Theobald and 234-40-11 in overall program history. The Jennies have compiled undefeated home records five times.
• The 2026 season will mark a new era for Jennies Soccer at the South Recreation Complex, as UCM will play on a new, state-of-the-art turf playing surface that was installed during the summer of 2026. 

Series History

• Fort Hays State: The Jennies and Fort Hays State Tigers will meet for the 21st time in the all-time series, going back to 2011, on Friday night in Hays. UCM leads the series, 17-2-1. Last year, Central Missouri posted a 4-0 victory over FHSU in Warrensburg. 
• Nebraska Kearney: Central Missouri and Nebraska Kearney will meet for the 15th time in the all-time series, dating back to 2011, on Sunday afternoon in Kearney. The Jennies have a 12-0-2 advantage in the series. Last season, UCM and UNK played to a 0-0 tie in Warrensburg. 

New Faces for 2026

• The Jennies welcome seven newcomers in 2026, including one transfer and six high school freshmen.
• UCM's incoming transfer is sophomore midfielder Kylie Richardson (Emporia State transfer), while the incoming high school freshmen are goalkeeper Jamie Ricker, defenders Marley Ford, Annie Slamin, and Savanna Pittman, and forwards Habiba Lamrani and Allie Schroeder. 

Head Coach Lewis Theobald
Lewis Theobald, now in his 19th year, has transformed the Jennies Soccer program into one of the premier programs not only in the MIAA but also in NCAA Division II.

The 11-time MIAA and five-time region Coach of the Year has an impressive 325-58-31 record. He recorded more wins in his first three seasons than any other coach in school history and is the all-time winningest coach in both Jennies soccer and MIAA women's soccer history. He brought home the program's first-ever National Championship in the 2017 season.

Theobald enters the 2026 season as the winningest active coach in Division II women's soccer with an .822 winning percentage, among coaches with at least five years on the sidelines. He is also the all-time D-II leader among coaches with at least 10 years and is fifth all-time in all NCAA Divisions. 

During his tenure, Theobald has coached 23 All-Americans in Mikayla Ernst, Ashleigh Martin, Andree Orcutt, Lindsay Edmonds, Julia Kristensen, Kassie Newsom, Caroline Cole, Ana Dilkes, Emily Eldridge, Baylie Edwards, Randi Fernsler, Allysa Gann, Kayla Hamner, Julie Ireland, Becky Lackey, Cindy Lackey, Abby Rhodes, Alyssa Rhodes, Jada Scott, Carly Stanley, Jenna Stones, Makayla Toth and Megan Woolley and has led 63 players to All-Region status. He also coached Dilkes, a goalkeeper, to a National Player of the Year honor during the 2017 season.

He has coached 148 All-Conference players, including Most Valuable Players Melanie Hall, Kayla Shain and two-time Player of the Year Alyssa Rhodes; Offensive Players of the Years Carly Stanley, Julie Ireland, Jada Scott, Kassie Newsom and Julia Kristensen; Freshmen of the Year Alyssa Rhodes, Stanley, Hannah Pyle, Alexis Robbers, Nicki Wisnasky, Caroline Cole, Julia Kristensen and Izzy Joyce; Defenders of the Year, Emily Eldridge, Allysa Gann, Cindy Lackey and Abby Rhodes; two-time Goalkeeper of the Year Lindsey Johnson and four-time Goalkeeper of the Year Ana Dilkes.

A 1999 graduate of the University of Kansas, Theobald received his bachelor's degree in education with a concentration in physical education.
