(WARRENSBURG, Mo.) – Senior
Paula Harris recorded 17 kills, her highest total in a three-set match in over two months, during a 25-16, 25-10, 25-21 victory over the Truman Bulldogs. The win marks the Jennies 17th out of the last 18 matches. Fellow senior
Kelsey Ortwerth led the back row with 21 digs.
The match looked similar to the road contest against the Bulldogs from earlier this season, as the Jennies took control early, jumping out to an 11-4 lead in the opening set. After back-to-back kills from Harris and a Bulldog error made the score 16-8 in favor of the Jens, Truman called timeout to kill the momentum. UCM kept rolling, however, clinching the win at 25-16. The Bulldogs took five of the last seven points in the set, but ran out of time to complete the comeback.
Central Missouri took an even bigger advantage to start the second game, leading 8-1 and going on to win comfortably. The Jennies hit .615 in the second game, and scored off nine of Truman's 11 serves. The Bulldogs gave the Jennies a fight in the third set, leading at 18-17 before falling short. The Jens took three straight points to gain a 20-18 edge, then the two sides traded serves until UCM clinched the 25-21 victory.
