Biography

As a Redshirt Freshman: Pitched in six games throwing 6.1 innings and averaged almost one strikeout per inning ... Did not allow a run in four of his six outings and pitched to a 7.11 ERA ... Earned two wins on the year, first against Arkansas Tech (Feb. 8) with 1.2 perfect innings in relief and then in a 6-5 win against Drury (March 3) striking out two in an inning of work ... Did not allow a hit to a left handed batter and allowed the leadoff man to reach just once in six outings. 

As a Freshman: Appeared in six games before suffering a season-ending injury and took a medical redshirt ... Struck out 12 batters in 16.1 innings ... Picked up his first career win tossing 4.2 innings against Emporia State (Feb. 22) allowing just one hit and striking out five. 

In High School: Played for Coach John Fitzpatrick at Martensdale St. Mary's High School in St. Charles, Iowa ... Was a First Team All-Conference, All-District and All-State selection hitting .450 ... Advanced to the state championship where Martensdale St. Mary's finished as runner up ... Also played basketball.

Personal: Son of Brent and Jill Gavin ... Majoring in Exercise Science ... Cousin of former Mule pitcher Grant Gavin.
