WARRENSBURG, Mo. – The No. 24-ranked University of Central Missouri Mules Baseball team fell to the Missouri Southern Lions, 11-5, in the 2026 regular season and home finale on Saturday afternoon, May 2, at Crane Stadium/Tompkins Field.
The Mules finish the regular season with an overall record of 34-14 and a MIAA mark of 24-12. UCM will be the number five seed in the MIAA Baseball Tournament and will take on No. 4 seed Northwest Missouri State (35-15, 25-11) in a quarterfinal game on Thursday, May 7, at 10 a.m. at Wendell Simmons Field in Edmond, Okla.
UCM led the game, 4-3, before Missouri Southern (33-16, 26-10 MIAA) scored three runs in the top of the sixth inning and five runs in the seventh inning to gain an 11-4 advantage. Central Missouri plated a run in the bottom of the ninth inning for the final 11-5 score.
Ryker Edwards went 2-for-5 with a run and RBI, while
Cole Funkhouser was 1-for-3 with a double and RBI, pacing the Mules at the plate.
Relief pitcher
Gavin Killion (2-4) suffered the loss on the mound after allowing five earned runs on five hits with one strikeout in 2 2/3 innings of work.
For the game, the Lions outhit the Mules, 13-5.
