- University of Central Missouri Jennies Basketball (9-4, 3-1 MIAA) is scheduled to begin a four-game road trip with MIAA games at Northwest Missouri State (9-5, 2-2 MIAA) on Wednesday, Jan. 7, and Missouri Western State University (4-9, 0-4 MIAA) on Saturday, Jan. 10. The Jennies will face the Northwest Missouri State Bearcats at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday inside Bearcat Arena in Maryville before battling the MoWest Griffons at 1:30 p.m. Saturday afternoon at the MWSU Fieldhouse in St. Joseph.
- Central Missouri is coming off a 70-61 victory over the Emporia State Lady Hornets on New Year's Day, Thursday, Jan. 1, in Warrensburg.
- Through 13 games, Central Missouri is paced by Reese Schaaf (16.4 ppg., 7.5 rpg., 3.3 apg., 2.1 spg., .531 FG%, .439 3Pt%, .854 FT%) and Taylor Weishaar (13.8 ppg., 8.0 rpg., 2.0 apg., 1.0 bpg., .396 FG%, .283 3Pt%, .663 FT%).
- Schaaf ranks third in the MIAA in scoring (16.4 ppg.), second in field-goal percentage (.531), ninth in rebounding (7.5 rpg.), sixth in assists (3.3 apg.) and free-throw percentage (.854), and fourth in steals (2.1 spg.) while Weishaar is sixth in rebounding (8.0 rpg.) and third in blocks (1.4 bpg.). Hayden Heim is 10th in blocks (0.9 bpg.).
- As a team, Central Missouri is second in three-point field-goal percentage (.351), assists (16.5 apg.), and field-goal percentage (.441), and fourth in scoring (71.6 ppg.), rebounding (41.0 rpg.), and blocked shots (3.8 bpg.).

- The Jennies have seven newcomers for 2025-26, including six high school freshmen and one junior college transfer.
- The new high school freshmen are G Amaria Musick (Bixby, Okla.), G Makenzie Farmer (De Soto, Kan.), G/F Jayla Griffith (Columbia, Mo.), G/F Hayden Heim (Paxico, Kan.), G Neely Schaaf (El Dorado Springs, Mo.), and F Olivia Robben (Olathe, Kan.). G Elysa Martinez (Ackerly, Texas/Cowley County CC) is UCM's lone transfer.
REESE SCHAAF, TAYLOR WEISHAAR AMONG JENNIES' CAREER LEADERS
- Reese Schaaf is ranked fifth in career rebounding for the Jennies with 9.3 rebounds per game in 45 career contests. In addition, she is fourth in free-throw percentage at .842 (160-of-190) and fifth in scoring average at 17.9 points per game.
- Taylor Weishaar is 10th in career blocks for the Jennies with 84 swats in 45 career games.
LAST TIME OUT: JENNIES OPEN 2026 WITH 70-61 VICTORY OVER EMPORIA STATE ON NEW YEAR'S DAY
- University of Central Missouri Jennies Basketball opened the 2026 portion of its schedule with a 70-61 victory over the Emporia State Lady Hornets on New Year's Day, Thursday, Jan. 1, inside the Jerry M. Hughes Athletics Center.
- Central Missouri used a 10-0 run late in the second quarter to turn a 24-21 lead into a 34-22 advantage after Jayla Griffith drilled a three-pointer with 1:24 remaining on the clock. UCM went into halftime with a 36-27 lead.
- The Lady Hornets were able to trim the UCM advantage to five points twice in the fourth quarter, but the Jennies went an impressive 13-of-16 at the free-throw line, including a perfect 10-of-10 performance from Reese Schaaf, in the final six minutes of the game to keep Emporia State from getting any closer and secure the win.
- Schaaf ended the game with a season-high 29 points on 8-of-11 shooting from the floor and a career-best 13-of-13 showing at the free-throw line, and added 11 rebounds for her third double-double of the season, while Taylor Weishaar also reached double figures with 10 points, leading the Jennies in the contest. Jolie Bonderer, Griffith, and Hayden Heim each tallied eight points, respectively.
- For the game, UCM went 22-of-46 from the floor (48 percent) and were 23-of-30 at the free-throw line for 77 percent. Central Missouri outrebounded Emporia State, 35-27, and outscored the Lady Hornets in the paint, 34-26, and off turnovers, 23-21.
PRESEASON PICKS
- The Jennies were voted fourth in both the 2025-26 MIAA Preseason Coaches' Poll and MIAA Preseason Media Poll. UCM received 138 points and one first-place vote in the preseason coaches' poll and 271 points and four first-place votes in the preseason media poll.
JENNIES INK PAIR OF HIGH SCHOOL STANDOUTS
- University of Central Missouri Jennies Basketball head coach Dave Slifer announced Tuesday, Nov. 25, the signing of two high school standouts to the program's 2026 recruiting class.
- Regan Becker, a 6-foot-1 guard out of Blue Valley Northwest High School, and McKinli Mays, a 5-foot-7 guard out of El Dorado Springs High School, have signed to continue their education and compete at the University of Central Missouri beginning in the fall of 2026.
FAMILY CONNECTION
- The Jennies have two siblings on the 2025-26 roster in El Dorado Springs natives senior Reese Schaaf and freshman Neely Schaaf.
SLIFER AMONG THE BEST
- Jennies Basketball 22nd season head coach Dave Slifer is ranked fifth in career victories in all of NCAA (Division I, II, III) with his 831 career wins in 36 years. In Division II, Slifer is second in career victories, trailing only Tom Shirley of Jefferson, who posted 905 victories in 43 years.
