HOUSTON – The second-ranked University of Central Missouri Mules Baseball team fell to the No. 10-ranked North Greenville Trailblazers, 15-4 in eight innings, on the second day of the Houston Winter Invitational on Saturday, Jan. 31, inside Daikin Park in downtown Houston, Texas.
The Mules (1-1) are slated to face Ashland (1-1) on the final day of the Houston Winter Invitational, Sunday, Feb. 1, at 12:30 p.m.
Central Missouri took a 1-0 lead after
Grant Hollister scored on a wild pitch in the third inning, but the Trailblazers responded, plating eight runs in the top of the fifth inning to gain an 8-1 lead.
North Greenville (2-0) would not relinquish its lead for the remainder of the game.
Hollister and
Kaiden Ashton each recorded two hits, pacing the Mules offensively in the contest.
Central Missouri reliever
Egan Keeler (0-1) suffered the loss on the mound after giving up five earned runs on two hits with one strikeout in a third of an inning.
Josh Fouks went 2-for-5 with a home run and four RBI while CJ Dean was 3-for-4 with two runs and an RBI, leading North Greenville at the plate.
