- University of Central Missouri Jennies Basketball (12-5, 6-2 MIAA) is scheduled to host the Missouri Western State University Griffons (6-11, 2-6 MIAA) on Wednesday, Jan. 21, at 5:30 p.m. inside the Jerry M. Hughes Athletics Center before welcoming the Northwest Missouri State Bearcats (10-8, 3-5 MIAA) to Warrensburg on Saturday, Jan. 24, at 1 p.m.
- PROMOTIONS: Wednesday's game is Cancer Awareness Night. UCM Athletics will honor and collect donations for the Johnson County (Mo.) Cancer Foundation. Saturday's contest is the annual Blackout Game. All fans are encouraged to wear black and be loud. In addition, the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee will be hosting a winter clothes/gear drive at the main entrance. Fans who donate will receive half-price admission. There will also be a bounce house, provided by Warrensburg Parks & Recreation, at the game.
- The Jennies are coming off a 76-70 loss to the Emporia State Lady Hornets on Saturday, Jan. 17, in Emporia, Kan.
- Through 17 games, Central Missouri is paced by Reese Schaaf (17.6 ppg., 8.2 rpg., 3.2 apg., 2.0 spg., .552 FG%, .431 3Pt%, .863 FT%) and Taylor Weishaar (13.9 ppg., 7.4 rpg., 1.8 apg., 1.5 bpg., .390 FG%, .279 3Pt%, .691 FT%).
- Schaaf ranks second in the MIAA in scoring (17.6 ppg.), second in field-goal percentage (.552), fourth in steals (2.0 spg.), fifth in rebounding (8.2 rpg.), free-throw percentage (.863), and assist-to-turnover ratio (1.6), and seventh in assists (3.2 apg.), while Weishaar is 10th in scoring (13.9) and rebounding (7.4 rpg.), and fourth in blocks (1.5 bpg.).
- In the MIAA team statistics, Central Missouri is seventh in scoring offense (69.9 ppg.), second in assists (15.9 apg.) and assist-to-turnover ratio (1.0), third in field-goal percentage (.423), fourth in scoring defense (58.8 ppg.), three-point field-goal percentage (.326) and blocked shots (4.0 bpg.), sixth in rebounding (40.1 rpg.), and seventh in steals (7.9 spg.).
SCORING AND CRASHING THE GLASS
- Reese Schaaf leads the Jennies with seven double-doubles on the season. She has posted five consecutive double-doubles and has six double-doubles in her last seven games entering Wednesday. Schaaf ranks first in the conference in double-doubles on the season.
- Schaaf has shot at least 50 percent from the field in her last seven games, including shooting above 60 percent in five of them.
REESE SCHAAF, TAYLOR WEISHAAR AMONG JENNIES' CAREER LEADERS
- Reese Schaaf is ranked fifth in career rebounding for the Jennies with 9.4 rebounds per game in 49 career contests. In addition, she is fourth in free-throw percentage at .847 (182-of-215) and fourth in scoring average at 18.3 points per game.
- Taylor Weishaar is tied for ninth in career blocks for the Jennies with 91 swats in 49 career games.
LAST TIME OUT: JENNIES FALL AT EMPORIA STATE SATURDAY, 76-70
- The University of Central Missouri Jennies Basketball team had its six-game winning streak snapped after falling to the Emporia State University Lady Hornets, 76-70, on Saturday afternoon, Jan. 17, inside William L. White Auditorium.
- Central Missouri led 49-45 with 3:19 to go in the third quarter before the Lady Hornets ended the quarter on a 10-1 run to take a 55-50 advantage into the fourth quarter.
- Emporia State would stretch its lead to as much as 10 points in the fourth quarter before the Jennies mounted a late comeback attempt, pulling within 72-70 with 39 seconds to go after Reese Schaaf converted a layup, was fouled, and made the bonus free-throw. That was as close as UCM would get, though, as Emporia State went a perfect 4-of-4 at the free-throw line in the final seconds to secure the victory.
- Hayden Heim netted a career-high 18 points on 6-of-16 shooting from the floor, Schaaf scored 17 points and snagged 10 rebounds for her team-high seventh double-double of the season, and Makenzie Farmer had 11 points, leading UCM in the game.
- For the contest, the Jennies shot 36 percent from the field (24-of-66) but were just 9-of-36 from three-point ranges (25 percent) and 13-of-19 at the free-throw line (68 percent). Emporia State outrebounded UCM, 43-34, and outscored Central Missouri in the paint, 44-22.
PRESEASON PICKS
- The Jennies were voted fourth in both the 2025-26 MIAA Preseason Coaches' Poll and MIAA Preseason Media Poll. UCM received 138 points and one first-place vote in the preseason coaches' poll and 271 points and four first-place votes in the preseason media poll.
NEW FACES
- The Jennies have seven newcomers for 2025-26, including six high school freshmen and one junior college transfer.
- The new high school freshmen are G Amaria Musick (Bixby, Okla.), G Makenzie Farmer (De Soto, Kan.), G/F Jayla Griffith (Columbia, Mo.), G/F Hayden Heim (Paxico, Kan.), G Neely Schaaf (El Dorado Springs, Mo.), and F Olivia Robben (Olathe, Kan.). G Elysa Martinez (Ackerly, Texas/Cowley County CC) is UCM's lone transfer.
JENNIES INK PAIR OF HIGH SCHOOL STANDOUTS
- University of Central Missouri Jennies Basketball head coach Dave Slifer announced Tuesday, Nov. 25, the signing of two high school standouts to the program's 2026 recruiting class.
- Regan Becker, a 6-foot-1 guard out of Blue Valley Northwest High School, and McKinli Mays, a 5-foot-7 guard out of El Dorado Springs High School, have signed to continue their education and compete at the University of Central Missouri beginning in the fall of 2026.
FAMILY CONNECTION
- The Jennies have two siblings on the 2025-26 roster in El Dorado Springs natives senior Reese Schaaf and freshman Neely Schaaf.

SLIFER AMONG THE BEST
- Jennies Basketball 22nd season head coach Dave Slifer is ranked fifth in career victories in all of NCAA (Division I, II, III) with his 834 career wins in 36 years. In Division II, Slifer is second in career victories, trailing only Tom Shirley of Jefferson, who posted 905 victories in 43 years.
