  • Tenth-ranked University of Central Missouri Jennies Soccer (3-2-1, 0-0 MIAA) is scheduled to open its 2025 MIAA slate with a pair of matches in Oklahoma. UCM will play the Northeastern State RiverHawks Friday, Sept. 26, at 7 p.m. in Tahlequah before facing the Rogers State Hillcats at 1 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 28, in Claremore. 
  • Central Missouri is coming off a pair of home victories against Ouachita Baptist and Harding last weekend. The Jennies shut out Ouachita Baptist, 5-0, Sept. 19, before taking down Harding, 7-2, Sept. 21. 
  • Through six matches, the Jennies are paced offensively by forwards Mikayla Ernst (8 G, 2 A, 18 Pts, 26 SH, 14 SOG, .538 SOG%, 2 GWG, 2-2 PK), Izzy Joyce (2 G, 3 A, 7 Pts, 7 SH, 6 SOG, .857 SOG%) and Alexandra Hofbauer (2 G, 4 Pts, 2 SH, 2 SOG, 1.000 SOG%).
  • Ernst, who was named the MIAA Offensive Athlete of the Week for a second straight week after netting six goals in UCM's two matches last weekend, currently ranks second in all of NCAA-II in goals (8) and points (18). 
  • Goalkeeper Kristen Wright (6 GP, 6 GS, 540 minutes, 5 GA, 0.83 GAA, 23 SV, .821 SV%, 3-2-1 record, 3 shutouts) leads Central Missouri defensively through six contests. 
  • As a team, UCM is averaging 2.5 goals per game and 12.7 shots per game while its opponents are averaging 0.83 goals per game and 11.7 shots per game. The Jennies have a 0.592 shots on goal percentage and are holding adversaries to a 0.400 shots on goal percentage. Central Missouri has taken 32 corner kicks through six matches. 
Ernst Joins the UCM Record Book
  • Mikayla Ernst became just the third player in program history to score a Central Missouri single-match record four goals in Sunday's 7-2 win over Harding. Ernst joins former Jennies Jada Scott (vs. Missouri Western in 2016) and Sarah Bourn (vs. Southwest Baptist in 1995) at the top of the single-match goals scored record list with her four goals.

  • Jennies Soccer was voted No. 1 in the MIAA Preseason Coaches' Poll for the 2025 season.
  • UCM received 132 points and four first-place votes in the poll.
  • Central Missouri is ranked No. 10 in the most recent United Soccer Coaches Division II Top 25 Poll released Tuesday, Sept. 23. 
Home Sweet Home
  • Dating back to the 2016 season, the Jennies are 91-7-2 at the South Recreation Complex. During that span, UCM has surrendered just 68 goals.
  • All-time at the South Recreation Complex, UCM is 166-17-9 under head coach Lewis Theobald and 230-38-10 in overall program history. The Jennies have compiled undefeated home records five times.
Back-to-Back Weekly Honors for Ernst
  • For the second straight week, University of Central Missouri Jennies Soccer's Mikayla Ernst has been voted the MIAA Women's Soccer Offensive Athlete of the Week.
  • Ernst became just the third player in program history to score a UCM single-match record four goals in the Jennies' 7-2 win over Harding on Sunday, Sept. 21. She added two goals in Central Missouri's 5-0, shutout victory over Ouachita Baptist on Friday, Sept. 19, to give her six goals on the week.
  • In total, Ernst posted six goals while dishing out one assist for 13 points in two matches.

New Faces for 2025 Series History
  • Northeastern State: UCM and Northeastern State will meet for the 20th time in the all-time series Friday evening in Tahlequah. The Jennies lead the series, 16-2-1. Last season, UCM defeated Northeastern State in Warrensburg, 3-1.
  • Rogers State: The Jennies and Hillcats will meet for the sixth time in the all-time series Sunday afternoon in Claremore. UCM has a 4-0-1 advantage in the series. Last season, the Jennies shut out the Hillcats at the South Recreation Complex, 2-0. 
Head Coach Lewis Theobald
Lewis Theobald, now in his 18th year, has transformed the Jennies Soccer program into one of the premier programs not only in the MIAA but also in NCAA Division II.

The 11-time MIAA and five-time region Coach of the Year has an impressive 311-53-28 record. He recorded more wins in his first three seasons than any other coach in school history and is the all-time winningest coach in both Jennies soccer and MIAA women's soccer history. He brought home the program's first-ever National Championship in the 2017 season.

Theobald enters the 2025 season as the winningest active coach in Division II women's soccer with an .833 winning percentage, among coaches with at least five years on the sidelines. He is also the all-time D-II leader among coaches with at least 10 years and is fifth all-time in all NCAA Divisions. 

During his tenure, Theobald has coached 22 All-Americans in Ashleigh Martin, Andree Orcutt, Lindsay Edmonds, Julia Kristensen, Kassie Newsom, Caroline Cole, Ana Dilkes, Emily Eldridge, Baylie Edwards, Randi Fernsler, Allysa Gann, Kayla Hamner, Julie Ireland, Becky Lackey, Cindy Lackey, Abby Rhodes, Alyssa Rhodes, Jada Scott, Carly Stanley, Jenna Stones, Makayla Toth and Megan Woolley and has led 60 players to All-Region status. He also coached Dilkes, a goalkeeper, to a National Player of the Year honor during the 2017 season.

He has coached 142 All-Conference players, including Most Valuable Players Melanie Hall, Kayla Shain and two-time Player of the Year Alyssa Rhodes; Offensive Players of the Years Carly Stanley, Julie Ireland, Jada Scott, Kassie Newsom and Julia Kristensen; Freshmen of the Year Alyssa Rhodes, Stanley, Hannah Pyle, Alexis Robbers, Nicki Wisnasky, Caroline Cole, Julia Kristensen and Izzy Joyce; Defenders of the Year, Emily Eldridge, Allysa Gann, Cindy Lackey and Abby Rhodes; two-time Goalkeeper of the Year Lindsey Johnson and four-time Goalkeeper of the Year Ana Dilkes.

A 1999 graduate of the University of Kansas, Theobald received his bachelor's degree in education with a concentration in physical education.

The Jennies begin a four-match MIAA homestand, hosting Fort Hays State on Friday, Oct. 3, and Nebraska Kearney on Sunday, Oct. 5, at the South Recreation Complex in Warrensburg.
