WARRENSBURG, Mo. – Izzy Joyce,
Ashleigh Martin and
Aspen Patterson each netted goals leading No 9-ranked Central Missouri Jennies soccer to a 3-1 win over previously undefeated Northeastern State in the 2024 MIAA conference opener for both teams Friday, Sept. 27, at the South Recreation Complex.
The Jennies (4-2-1, 1-0 MIAA) are scheduled to host Rogers State (1-5, 0-0 MIAA) in a conference match Sunday afternoon, Sept. 29, at 1 p.m. in Warrensburg.
Joyce, a freshman, scored her first collegiate goal in the 13th-minute, placing an assist from
Lexie Ruf into the back of the net, putting Central Missouri in front, 1-0.
The Jennies remained in the lead until the 47th-mintue when Northeastern State's Rachel Reed scored off a corner kick, leveling the contest, 1-1.
The stalemate didn't last long, however, as Martin converted what proved to be the game-winning penalty-kick just two minutes later in the 49th-minute – her third goal of the season – to put UCM back in front, 2-1.
Aspen Patterson made it 3-1, Jennies, with her first goal of 2024, scoring on an assist from Martin in the 80th-minute.
For the match, UCM outshot Northeastern State (6-1, 0-1 MIAA), 24-17, including a 10-8 advantage in shot on goal. Both teams had seven corner kicks in the contest.

Kristen Wright (4-2-1) earned the win between the posts after allowing just one goal while making seven saves in 90 minutes.
The RiverHawks' Rebecca Partyka (6-1-0) suffered the setback in goal after surrendering three goals while making six saves in 90 minutes.
