Five UCM Track & Field Student-Athletes Earn All-MIAA Honors on Day Two of MIAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships

EMPORIA, Kan. – Rachael Molloy, Landon Mason, Logan Grover, Cooper Palmer and Cosmas Kiprop all earned All-MIAA accolades to highlight the second day of action for UCM track & field at the 2025 MIAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships Saturday, May 3, at Francis G. Welch Stadium on the Emporia State University campus.

Throws
  • Molloy was the MIAA runner-up in the women's hammer with a provisional and personal-best-tying mark of 59.37m (194-09). Her mark is second-best in school history. The second-place finish marks the eighth time in her UCM career that she has earned All-MIAA accolades.
  • Mason placed third in the men's discus with a mark of 50.17m (164-07) to earn All-MIAA honors for the first time in his career.
Multi-Events
  • Grover finished as the MIAA runner-up in the decathlon with a provisional and personal-best total of 6,501 points for his first-career All-MIAA honor. In the final five events of the decathlon on Saturday, Grover won the javelin with a mark of 55.40m (181-09), placed third in the discus at 34.42m (112-11), fourth in the 1,500m run with a time of 5:02.82, eighth in the pole vault at 3.57m (11-08.50) and ninth in the 110m hurdles with a time of 17.09. He tallied personal bests in the javelin and pole vault on Saturday.
  • Kristen Jones finished fifth in the women's heptathlon with a tally of 4,563 points. Jones finished third in the javelin with a mark of 37.97m (124-07) and fourth in the 800m run with a time of 2:34.74 in the final two events out of seven events.
Distance
  • Palmer and Kiprop went 2-3 in the men's 10,000m run to both finish on the podium and garner All-MIAA honors for the second time in their careers. Palmer edged out Kiprop for second with a personal-best time of 30:06.31 while Kiprop was third with a personal-best time of 30:06.51. Palmer's time is fifth-fastest and Kiprop's time is sixth-fastest in school history.
Jumps
  • Marissa Austene finished just off the podium for the Jennies in the women's long jump, placing fourth with a provisional mark of 5.88m (19-03.50).
Prelims
  • Brayden Blackman and Yunus Altinay both punched their tickets to the men's 400m hurdles final, which is scheduled for Sunday. Blackman was the runner-up in the prelims with a provisional and personal-best time of 52.85 while Altinay was sixth with a personal-best time of 53.99. Blackman's time is eighth-fastest in school history.
  • Brooklynn Holtman secured a spot in the Sunday's women's 200m dash final after placing fourth in the prelims with a time of 24.44.
  • Rawley Chard finished fourth in the men's 400m dash prelims with a provisional time of 46.69 to earn a spot in the final on Sunday.
  • Parker Wormek posted a provisional time of 14.16 to place sixth in the men's 110m hurdles prelims, securing a spot in Sunday's final.
  • Cortney Knutson earned a spot in Sunday's women's 800m final after placing eighth in the prelims with a personal-best time of 1:06.93.
In the team standings, with six out of 21 events scored, the Mules sit in third place with 38 points while the Jennies are in sixth with 17 points with seven of 21 events scored. 

The Mules & Jennies will conclude the MIAA Outdoor Championships on Sunday, May 4, in Emporia, Kan.
