No. 7 Jennies Basketball Falls to No. 2 Fort Hays State in MIAA Tournament Quarterfinals, 90-74

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Seventh-seeded University of Central Missouri Jennies basketball saw its 2024-25 season come to a close after falling to No. 2-seeded and No. 9-ranked Fort Hays State, 90-74, in the quarterfinals of the MIAA Women's Basketball Championship Thursday, March 6, inside historic Municipal Auditorium in downtown Kansas City, Mo.

The Jennies conclude their season with an overall record of 17-15. 

Junior Reese Schaaf compiled her team-best 18th double-double of the season with 28 points and 11 rebounds while redshirt senior Lauren Frost tallied 21 points and dished out five assists and freshman Taylor Weishaar added 14 points, leading Central Missouri in the contest.

For the game, the Jennies shot 43 percent from the field (29-of-67) but were just 2-of-13 from three-point range for 15 percent. UCM went 14-of-21 at the free-throw line for 67 percent.

Fort Hays State (26-3) posted a commanding 42-26 advantage in rebounding and outscored the Jennies in the paint, 50-42. UCM did best FHSU in points off turnovers, 17-10.

Talexa Weeter scored a game-high 35 points and grabbed 11 rebounds, while MIAA Player of the Year Katie DeGarmo netted 18 points, pacing the Tigers.

Schaaf wrapped up the 2024-25 season with 310 rebounds, which ranks seventh in Jennies basketball single-season history while Frost dished out 162 assists in her final year at Central Missouri, ranking sixth in program single-season history. In addition, Frost concluded her three-year career at UCM ranking ninth in program history in assists with 390.

In her inaugural season with the Jennies, Weishaar compiled a team-best 64 blocks, which is third-best in Central Missouri women's basketball single-season history.
