  • Central Missouri Jennies basketball (14-12, 6-9 MIAA) is slated to wrap up its 2024-25 home schedule with a pair of MIAA contests vs. Rogers State (7-17, 1-14 MIAA) Thursday, Feb. 20, at 5:30 p.m. and Central Oklahoma (7-17, 6-9 MIAA) Saturday, Feb. 22, at 1 p.m. inside the Jerry M. Hughes Athletics Center in Warrensburg. Thursday's contest will be Star Wars Night while Saturday's home finale will be Senior Day and UCM Athletic Hall of Fame Day. The Jennies will honor their five seniors: Allie Clevenger, Lauren Frost, Shannon Karlin, Nicole Davis and Callie Ziebell, 10 minutes prior to tip-off Saturday. 
  • UCM is coming off a 1-1 week last week, winning at Northeastern State Feb. 13, 70-59, and falling at Arkansas-Fort Smith Feb. 15, 66-60.
  • Through 26 games, Central Missouri is led by Reese Schaaf (18.3 ppg., 9.8 rpg., .518 FG%, .845 FT%, 31 A, 23 Stl, 10 Blk), Taylor Weishaar (12.2 ppg., 7.5 rpg., .455 FG%, .719 FT%, 58 blk) and Lauren Frost (10.8 ppg., 4.6 rpg., 135 A, .378 FG%, .309 3FG%, .704 FT%, 39 Stl).
  • As a team, UCM is averaging 67.2 points per game while holding opponents to 63.1 points per game. The Jennies are outrebounding their adversaries, 37.5 to 34.7 rebounds per game, and shooting 43 percent from the field, 31.1 percent from three-point range and 74.6 percent at the free-throw line.
  • Schaaf currently leads the MIAA in both scoring and rebounding through 26 contests with her 18.3 points and 9.8 boards per game. She ranks seventh in double-doubles (13), 10th in total field goals (184), 11th in rebounds (256) and 15th in points (476) and) in the most recent NCAA-II National Statistics.
  • Weishaar leads the MIAA in blocks with 58 and is 10th nationally while Frost is second in the conference and 10th in Division II with her 135 assists this season.
BLOCK PARTY
  • Taylor Weishaar currently ranks fourth in UCM single-season history with her 58 blocks this season. She is four blocks shy of tying former UCM women's basketball standout Kamala Sherman for third in single-season blocks. Sherman tallied 62 during the 1992-93 season.
LAST TIME OUT: JENNIES FALL AT ARKANSAS-FORT SMITH, 66-60
  • University of Central Missouri Jennies basketball fell to the Arkansas-Fort Smith Lions, 66-60, in a MIAA game Saturday, Feb. 15, inside the Stubblefield Center.
  • Reese Schaaf tallied 19 points and 11 rebounds for her team-best 13th double-double of the season while Allie Clevenger also reached double figures with 17 points, pacing UCM in the contest.
  • For the game, Central Missouri shot 36 percent from the floor (23-of-64) and were 7-of-11 at the free-throw line for 64 percent.
  • Arkansas-Fort Smith outrebounded UCM, 41-38, in the contest and outscored the Jennies in the paint, 26-24, and off turnover, 19-9.
  • Morgan Browning (17 points) and Zyniah Thomas (16 points) paced the Lions.
TAKING CARE OF THE BASKETBALL
  • Through 26 games, the Jennies rank among the top teams in NCAA Division II when it comes to limiting turnovers. UCM is averaging just 12.8 turnovers per game, which is second in the MIAA lead and ranks 10th nationally.
JENNIES INK FIVE HIGH SCHOOL STANDOUTS
  • University of Central Missouri women's basketball head coach Dave Slifer announced the signing of five high school standouts during the early signing period Tuesday, Nov. 26.
  • Hayden Heim, a 6-3 forward from Plaxico, Kan., Makenzie Farmer, a 5-11 guard from De Soto, Kan., Jayla Griffith, a 5-8 guard from Columbia, Mo., Olivia Robben, a 6-5 center from Olathe, Kan., and Neely Schaaf, a 5-8 guard from El Dorado Springs, Mo., will all continue their education and play basketball for the Jennies beginning in the fall of 2025.
