  • University of Central Missouri Jennies basketball (13-11, 5-8 MIAA) is scheduled to travel to Tahlequah, Okla., and Fort Smith, Ark., for a pair of MIAA road contests against the Northeastern State RiverHawks (10-12, 6-7 MIAA) Thursday, Feb. 13, and Arkansas-Fort Smith Lions (13-9, 7-6 MIAA) Saturday, Feb. 15, at 1 p.m.
  • UCM is coming off a 75-61 loss at Washburn Saturday, Feb. 8, in Topeka, Kan.
  • Through 24 games, Central Missouri is led by Reese Schaaf (18.5 ppg., 9.8 rpg., .529 FG%, .845 FT%, 31 A, 21 Stl, 8 Blk), Taylor Weishaar (12.5 ppg., 7.6 rpg., .460 FG%, .713 FT%, 51 blk) and Lauren Frost (11 ppg., 4.5 rpg., 124 A, .385 FG%, .322 3FG%, .729 FT%, 35 Stl).
  • As a team, UCM is averaging 67.4 points per game while holding opponents to 63.1 points per game. The Jennies are outrebounding their adversaries, 37.7 to 34.2 rebounds per game, and shooting 43 percent from the field, 31.4 percent from three-point range and 74.5 percent at the free-throw line.
  • Schaaf currently leads the MIAA in both scoring and rebounding through 24 contests with her 18.5 points and 9.8 boards per game. She ranks eight in total field goals (173), ninth in double-doubles (12), 14th in points (431) and 15th in rebounds (236) in the most recent NCAA-II National Statistics.
  • Weishaar leads the MIAA in blocks with 51 and is 10th nationally while Frost is third in the conference and 12th in Division II with her 124 assists this season.
LAST TIME OUT: JENNIES DROP CONTEST AT WASHBURN
  • Central Missouri Jennies basketball fell to the Washburn Ichabods, 75-61, Saturday, Feb. 8, inside Lee Arena in a MIAA game.
  • Taylor Weishaar netted 15 points on 4-of-7 shooting from the floor and a 7-of-8 showing at the free-throw line and added a team-best three blocks while Reese Schaaf compiled her team and MIAA-best 12th double-double of the season with 14 points and 12 rebounds, leading UCM in the game.
  • Central Missouri shot just 34 percent from the field (21-of-61) and were 4-of-12 from three-point range for 33 percent and 15-of-20 at the free-throw line for 75 percent.
  • Washburn outrebounded UCM, 40-34, and outscored the Jennies in the paint, 36-30, and off turnovers, 16-11.
  • The Ichabods used a big third quarter to pull away from the Jennies, outscoring UCM in the stanza 29-11.
  • Payton Sterk had a game-high 28 points while Gabi Giovannetti added 18 points, pacing Washburn in the game.
TAKING CARE OF THE BASKETBALL
  • Through 24 games, the Jennies rank among the top teams in NCAA Division II when it comes to limiting turnovers. UCM is averaging just 12.6 turnovers per game, which is second in the MIAA lead and ranks eighth nationally.
JENNIES INK FIVE HIGH SCHOOL STANDOUTS
  • University of Central Missouri women's basketball head coach Dave Slifer announced the signing of five high school standouts during the early signing period Tuesday, Nov. 26.
  • Hayden Heim, a 6-3 forward from Plaxico, Kan., Makenzie Farmer, a 5-11 guard from De Soto, Kan., Jayla Griffith, a 5-8 guard from Columbia, Mo., Olivia Robben, a 6-5 center from Olathe, Kan., and Neely Schaaf, a 5-8 guard from El Dorado Springs, Mo., will all continue their education and play basketball for the Jennies beginning in the fall of 2025.
SLIFER INKS FOUR-YEAR CONTRACT EXTENSION
  • Jennies head coach Dave Slifer, now in his 21st season as the leader of the program, signed a four-year contract extension through the 2027-28 season in the summer of 2024.
  • The contract is highly competitive in the MIAA and NCAA Division II and provides incentives for MIAA championships, postseason appearances and achievements, coach of the year awards, and academic achievement.
  • Slifer has led Jennies basketball to 12 NCAA Division II postseason berths, including an NCAA-II National Championship in 2018 with the Jennies best record in program history, as well as four MIAA Championships and a pair of NCAA-II Central Region Titles.
  • Among active head coaches, Slifer is the second winningest coach in Division II and ranks in the top 10 among all three divisions with his 805 career victories in 35 years as a head coach.
  • He is the winningest coach in both Central Missouri and MIAA women's basketball history and enters 2024-25 with 421 wins in 20 seasons as head coach of the Jennies.

  • The Jennies return home to the Jerry M. Hughes Athletics Center for their final two home games of the season, hosting Rogers State Feb. 20 and Central Oklahoma Feb. 22 for Senior Day and UCM Athletic Hall of Fame Day.
