  • University of Central Missouri Jennies Basketball (4-2, 0-0 MIAA) is set to tip-off its 2025-26 MIAA slate with a pair of home games against the No. 3-ranked Fort Hays State Tigers (6-0, 0-0 MIAA) and Nebraska Kearney Lopers (4-4, 0-0 MIAA) Thursday, Dec. 4, and Saturday, Dec. 6, inside the Jerry M. Hughes Athletics Center in Warrensburg. UCM will face Fort Hays State at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday before taking on Nebraska Kearney at 1 p.m. on Saturday.
  • The Jennies are coming off an 83-69 victory over the Evangel (Mo.) Valor on Nov. 29 in Warrensburg.
  • Thursday's contest will be Star Wars Night, with the first 100 fans receiving a free lightsaber. Saturday's game is Warrensburg Day. Any individual with a valid photo ID with a Johnson County, Missouri, address will receive $5 admission.
  • Through six games, Central Missouri is paced by Taylor Weishaar (15.5 ppg., 8.2 rpg., 2.8 apg., 1.3 bpg., .411 FG%, .360 3Pt%, .727 FT%), Reese Schaaf (13.8 ppg., 6.2 rpg., 2.5 apg., 2.2 spg., .508 FG%, .500 3Pt%, .692 FT%), and Cierra Smith (11.7 ppg., 4.3 rpg., 1.5 apg., 1.8 spg., .443 FG%, .444 3Pt%, .600 FT%). 
  • Weishaar has scored in double figures in all six of UCM's games this season.
  • Coming into 2025-26, the Jennies welcome back four starters, including 2024-25 WBCA Honorable Mention All-American and MIAA Co-Newcomer of the Year Reese Schaaf (17 ppg., 5 rpg., 1.7 apg., .541 FG%, .500 3Pt%, .750 FT%), and All-MIAA selection Taylor Weishaar (12.7 ppg., 6.3 rpg., 2.3 apg., 1.3 bpg., .289 FG%, .263 3Pt%, .786 FT%).
  • Schaaf led the team and the MIAA in scoring and rebounding last season and tallied a team and conference-best 18 double-doubles. In addition, she scored in double figures in 31 of 32 games.
  • Weishaar paced the Jennies and the MIAA in blocks with 2.1 blocks per game in 2024-25.
  • Central Missouri also welcomes back Cierra Smith (7.4 ppg., 3 rpg., 1.3 apg., 1.2 spg.), Rylee Vierthaler (3.3 ppg., 1.8 rpg.), and Jolie Bonderer (2.3 ppg., 1.6 rpg.).
NEW FACES LAST TIME OUT: BIG SECOND HALF HELPS JENNIES PAST EVANGEL, 83-69
  • The University of Central Missouri women's basketball team outscored the Evangel Valor in the third and fourth quarters, 43-25, to turn a 44-40 halftime deficit into an 83-69 victory on Saturday afternoon, Nov. 29, inside the Jerry M. Hughes Athletics Center.
  • Taylor Weishaar netted 22 points on 7-of-12 shooting from the field, including a 1-of-3 showing from three-point range, and a flawless 7-of-7 mark at the free-throw line, while Cierra Smith added 17 points. Hayden Heim chipped in 12 points, Neely Schaaf added 10 points, and Reese Schaaf snagged a game-high 11 rebounds, rounding out the UCM leaders in the contest.
  • For the game, the Jennies shot 55 percent from the field (30-of-55), 46 percent from three-point range (6-of-13), and were 17 out of 21 at the free-throw line for 81 percent. Central Missouri outrebounded Evangel, 44-38, and outscored the Valor in the paint, 44-40.
PRESEASON PICKS
  • The Jennies were voted fourth in both the 2025-26 MIAA Preseason Coaches' Poll and MIAA Preseason Media Poll. UCM received 138 points and one first-place vote in the preseason coaches' poll and 271 points and four first-place votes in the preseason media poll.
JENNIES INK PAIR OF HIGH SCHOOL STANDOUTS
  • University of Central Missouri Jennies Basketball head coach Dave Slifer announced Tuesday, Nov. 25, the signing of two high school standouts to the program's 2026 recruiting class.
  • Regan Becker, a 6-foot-1 guard out of Blue Valley Northwest High School, and McKinli Mays, a 5-foot-7 guard out of El Dorado Springs High School, have signed to continue their education and compete at the University of Central Missouri beginning in the fall of 2026.
FAMILY CONNECTION
  • The Jennies have two siblings on the 2025-26 roster in El Dorado Springs natives senior Reese Schaaf and freshman Neely Schaaf.
SLIFER AMONG THE BEST
  • Jennies Basketball 22nd season head coach Dave Slifer is ranked fifth in career victories in all of NCAA (Division I, II, III) with his 826 career wins in 36 years. In Division II, Slifer is second in career victories, trailing only Tom Shirley of Jefferson, who posted 905 victories in 43 years.
