WARRENSBURG, Mo. – The No. 20 Central Missouri men's golf wrapped up play at the Missouri Western State Holiday Inn Express Invitational on Tuesday, Oct. 7, at St. Joseph Country Club.
The Mules' A team rallied to finish second with a 20-over par 588 (303, 285), highlighted by a tournament-low round of 285 (+1) on the final day. Team B climbed to tie for sixth with a 32-over par 600 (305–295).
Minnesota Crookston secured the team title at 507 (+19), while Rockhurst placed third at 510 (+22).
Junior
CJ Phillips paced the Mules with his first career tournament victory. Phillips fired a 7-under-par 64 in the second round en route to a 2-under-par 140 after rounds of 76 and 64.
For Team A,
Archer Schnieders and
Nick Fallin tied for 17th at 149 (+7). Schnieders scored 75 and 74, while Fallin shot 76 and 73. Freshman
Kale Flinton tied for 22nd with a 150 (+8) after rounds of 76 and 74.
Henry Manning rounded out the A squad in a tie for 35th at 153 (+11) with scores of 76 and 77.
Team B was led by
Lawson Barks, who tied for sixth at 145 (+3) after rounds of 73 and 72.
Jack Hope tied for 11th with a 148 (+6) after scores of 76 and 72. Garret McIntosh tied for 27th at 152 (+10) with back-to-back 76s. Nathan Womak tied for 42nd with a 155 (+13) after rounds of 80 and 75, and
Andrew Whittaker finished 57th with a 162 (+20) after recording an 83 and 79.
The Mules return to action Oct. 20–21 at the Missouri Southern Fall Invitational, which will be held at Shangri-La Country Club in Monkey Island, Oklahoma.
