Cole Funkhouser all had two hits as the No. 3-ranked Central Missouri Mules baseball team rolled to a 15-5 win in eight innings over the No. 18-ranked Ashland Eagles Friday, Jan. 31, in the Houston Winter Invitational at Daikin Park.
The Mules (1-0) are scheduled to face Arkansas-Monticello (1-0) in game two in Houston Saturday, Feb. 1, at 1:30 p.m.
Steele went 2-for-4 with a triple and four RBI while Heath was 2-for-3 with three runs scored and a RBI. Johnson added a 2-for-3 performance with a triple, three runs and a pair of runs batted in, Blachowicz was 2-for-4 with a double, two runs and three RBI, and Funkhouser was 2-for-3 with a run and drove in two runs, rounding out the UCM leaders in the contest.

Sawyer Allen (1-0) earned the win on the mound after allowing three earned runs on four hits with one strikeout and one walk in three innings of work.
Jeremiah Cangelosi went 3-for-4 and Max Caron was 3-for-3 with a double and three RBIs, pacing the Eagles at the plate.
Ashland starting pitcher Brendan Beaver (0-1) suffered the setback on the rubber, giving up seven earned runs on four hits with one strikeout and four walks in 2 2/3 innings.
