- University of Central Missouri Jennies basketball (11-8, 3-5 MIAA) is scheduled to travel to Missouri Western (11-5, 6-2 MIAA) and Northwest Missouri State (9-9, 2-6 MIAA) for a pair of MIAA games Wednesday, Jan. 22, and Saturday, Jan. 25. UCM is slated to face the Griffons of Missouri Western at 5:30 p.m. Thursday in St. Joseph, Mo., before taking on the Bearcats of Northwest Missouri State in Maryville, Mo., at 1:40 p.m. Saturday.
- Saturday's contest at Northwest Missouri State will be televised live throughout the Kansas City Metro Area on 38 The Spot as part of the 38 The Spot MIAA Game of the Week.
- Central Missouri is coming off a 69-52 victory over the Emporia State Lady Hornets Saturday, Jan. 18, in Warrensburg.
- Through 19 games, Central Missouri is led by Reese Schaaf (18.2 ppg., 9.5 rpg., .534 FG%, .846 FT%, 26 A, 19 Stl, 5 Blk), Lauren Frost (12.3 ppg., 5.0 rpg., 96 A, .424 FG%, .378 3FG%, .730 FT%, 31 Stl) and Taylor Weishaar (12.0 ppg., 7.5 rpg., .451 FG%, .673 FT%, 38 blk).
- As a team, UCM is averaging 68.7 points per game while holding opponents to 61.8 points per game. The Jennies are outrebounding their adversaries, 37.8 to 34.3 rebounds per game, and shooting 43.6 percent from the field, 32.3 percent from three-point range and 74.8 percent at the free-throw line.
- Schaaf currently leads the MIAA in both scoring and rebounding through 19 contests with her 18.4 points and 9.5 boards per game. She ranks eighth in total field goals (135) and double-doubles (9), ninth in points (345) and 12th in rebounds (180) in the most recent NCAA-II National Statistics.
- Weishaar leads the MIAA in blocks with 38 and is ninth nationally while Frost is second in the conference and 12th in Division II with her 96 assists this season.
LAST TIME OUT: JENNIES TAKE DOWN EMPORIA STATE SATURDAY
- Taylor Weishaar scored 18 points, Allie Clevenger added 17 points, and Reese Schaaf compiled her team-best ninth double-double of the season leading Central Missouri Jennies basketball to a 69-52 win over the Emporia State Lady Hornets Saturday afternoon, Jan. 18, on Military Appreciation Day inside the Jerry M. Hughes Athletics Center.
- After both teams played to a 27-27 tie in the opening half of the game, Central Missouri outscored Emporia State in the third and fourth quarters, 42-25, to post the 69-52 victory.
- Weishaar went 6-of-21 from the floor and a perfect 4-of-4 at the free-throw line for her 18 points and was one rebound shy of a double-double with nine boards while Clevenger posted her 17 points on 6-of-11 shooting from the field and a 3-of-4 showing at the free-throw line.
- Schaaf had 14 points, 10 rebounds to secure her ninth double-double of 2024-25, Lauren Frost dished out a team-best seven assists, and Rylee Vierthaler had a career-high eight rebounds, including seven offensive boards, rounding out the UCM leaders in the contest.
- UCM shot 44 percent from the field (27-of-62), 42 percent from three-point range (8-of-19) and were 78 percent from the free-throw line (7-of-9) in the game. Central Missouri dominated the glass, outrebounding Emporia State (7-10, 2-6 MIAA), 44-25, and outscored the Lady Hornets in the paint, 32-26, and 14-0 in second chance points.
- Katie Horyna (18 points) and Gracie Gilpin (14 points) paced the Lady Hornets.
TAKING CARE OF THE BASKETBALL
- Through 19 games, the Jennies rank among the top teams in NCAA Division II when it comes to limiting turnovers. UCM is averaging just 12.1 turnovers per game, which leads the MIAA and ranks fourth nationally.
JENNIES INK FIVE HIGH SCHOOL STANDOUTS
- University of Central Missouri women's basketball head coach Dave Slifer announced the signing of five high school standouts during the early signing period Tuesday, Nov. 26.
- Hayden Heim, a 6-3 forward from Plaxico, Kan., Makenzie Farmer, a 5-11 guard from De Soto, Kan., Jayla Griffith, a 5-8 guard from Columbia, Mo., Olivia Robben, a 6-5 center from Olathe, Kan., and Neely Schaaf, a 5-8 guard from El Dorado Springs, Mo., will all continue their education and play basketball for the Jennies beginning in the fall of 2025.

SLIFER INKS FOUR-YEAR CONTRACT EXTENSION
- Jennies head coach Dave Slifer, now in his 21st season as the leader of the program, signed a four-year contract extension through the 2027-28 season in the summer of 2024.
- The contract is highly competitive in the MIAA and NCAA Division II and provides incentives for MIAA championships, postseason appearances and achievements, coach of the year awards, and academic achievement.
- Slifer has led Jennies basketball to 12 NCAA Division II postseason berths, including an NCAA-II National Championship in 2018 with the Jennies best record in program history, as well as four MIAA Championships and a pair of NCAA-II Central Region Titles.
- Among active head coaches, Slifer is the second winningest coach in Division II and ranks in the top 10 among all three divisions with his 805 career victories in 35 years as a head coach.
- He is the winningest coach in both Central Missouri and MIAA women's basketball history and enters 2024-25 with 421 wins in 20 seasons as head coach of the Jennies.
