WARRENSBURG, Mo. – Taylor Weishaar netted a career-high 25 points and
Reese Schaaf posted her eighth double-double of the season as Central Missouri Jennies basketball coasted past the Newman Jets, 83-41, in a MIAA game Thursday evening, Jan. 16, inside the Jerry M. Hughes Athletics Center.
The Jennies (10-8, 2-5 MIAA) are slated to host the Emporia State Lady Hornets (7-9, 2-5 MIAA) Saturday afternoon, Jan. 18, at 1 p.m. in Warrensburg.
Weishaar, a freshman from Wathena, Kan., went 10-for-16 from the field, including a 1-of-3 shooting performance from three-point range, and was 4-for-5 at the free-throw line for her career-best 25 points and added six rebounds and a team-best three blocks, while Schaaf, a junior from El Dorado Springs, Mo., went 8-of-13 from the floor and 3-for-4 at the free-throw line for 19 points and snagged 12 rebounds to complete her eighth double-double of 2024-25.
Allie Clevenger also reached double figure points for the contest, scoring 11 on 4-of-6 shooting and a 3-of-5 performance from three-point range, and
Lauren Frost dished out a game-best seven assists, rounding out the Central Missouri leaders in the game.
UCM shot nearly 50 percent from the floor in the win, going 32-of-65 for 49 percent, and were 4-of-13 from three-point range (31 percent) and 15-of-22 at the free-throw line (68 percent).
The Jennies dominated the glass, outrebounding the Jets (6-10, 1-6 MIAA), 48-26, and outscored Newman in the paint, 48-16, and off turnovers, 17-0. The 41 points scored by the Jets marked the lowest total for a UCM opponent since the Jennies held Rogers State to 37 points in January 2024.
Paige Craft had 11 points, leading Newman.
