No. 15 Jennies Volleyball Sweeps TAMIU in BritKare Lady Buff Classic Finale

CANYON, Texas – No. 15 Central Missouri Jennies (2-1, 0-0 MIAA) swept the Texas A&M International Dustdevils (1-3, 0-0 LSC) by a final score of 3-0 (25-21, 28-26, 25-14) on Saturday, Sept. 7, in the final day of the BritKare Lady Buff Classic from WTAMU Fieldhouse on the campus of West Texas A&M in Canyon, Texas.
 
The Jens took the opening set 25-21 outhitting TAMIU by a margin of .314 to .212 thanks to four kills from sophomores Emma Siron (eight kills with a .471 hitting percentage, adding eight digs, career-high two assists, and two blocks overall) and Elinor Engel (13 kills, three blocks, and three digs overall). With the score even at 26 in the second, Central Missouri took advantage of two Dustdevil miscues for a 28-26 victory.  
 
Highlighted by an 8-0 run with three kills from sophomore Maya Fergerson (match-high 14 kills and two digs overall), the Jens picked up their second win of the season as freshman Maddie Wojdyla recorded a match-high 38 assists adding seven digs while middle blocker Rachel Ziesman had six kills and three blocks for good measure.
 
For the match, Central Missouri outhit the Dustdevils by a margin of .232 to .103 thanks to the defensive efforts of libero Grace Winklemann who collected a team-high 17 digs while defensive specialists Emma Wheeler (two assists) and Brenna Kelly each had six digs and two service aces in the winning effort.
 
The Jens return to the volleyball court on Friday, Sept. 13, as they take on the Dallas Baptist Patriots in the opening match of the Colorado Premier Challenge beginning at 11:00 a.m. (CST) in Denver, Colo.
