CARY, N.C. – Top-seeded and No. 1-ranked Central Missouri Mules baseball saw its 2024 season come to a close Monday, June 3, after falling to No. 5-seeded Indiana University (Pa.), 4-3, in an NCAA-II College World Series elimination game at the USA Baseball Training Complex.
The Mules wrap up their 2024 season with an overall record of 52-10 and as MIAA Regular Season and NCAA-II Central Region Champions.
Seniors
Carter Young and
Brennen van Breusegen both went 2-for-3 in their final game as a Mule, with Young also tallying a double and two RBIs, while redshirt junior
Max Holy was 1-for-3 with an RBI, pacing Central Missouri at the plate in the contest.
Freshman right-hander
Jack Scott (5-2) suffered the setback on the mound for UCM, allowing four runs – three earned – on just four hits with a career-high 10 strikeouts and one walk in 7 1/3 innings of work.
Harrison Pontoli went 2-for-4 with a double and RBI and Andrew Sicinski was 2-for-4 and drove in a run, pacing the Crimson Hawks (39-17) in the batter's box.
IUP reliever Jason Madrak (2-0) earned the win on the rubber after giving up no earned runs on two hits with one walk in 1 1/3 innings while Bryce Devan secured his second save of the season after throwing a scoreless top of the ninth inning.
