EMPORIA, Kan. – University of Central Missouri Mules track & field's
Trey Miller sits in second place in the decathlon highlighting the opening day of action for UCM track & field at the 2024 NCAA-II Outdoor Championships Thursday, May 23, at Francis G. Welch Stadium on the Emporia State University campus.
Multi-Events
- With five of 10 events completed in the decathlon, Miller is second with 4,072 points – 26 points behind current leader, Hunter Jones from Pittsburg State. Miller placed first in the long jump (7.42m/24-4.25), second in the 400m dash (48.93 – personal-best), third in the 100m dash (10.79), sixth in the high jump (1.92m/6-3.50) and ninth in the shot put (12.76m/41-10.50). The event will wrap up Friday with the 110m hurdles, discus, pole vault, javelin and 1,500m run.
- With four of seven events in the book, the Jennies' Kayla Goodwin sits in 11th place in the heptathlon with 3,194 points. Goodwin placed fourth in the high jump (1.69m/5-6.50), 10th in the 100m hurdles (14.45), 11th in the shot put (11.23m/36-10.25) and 14th in the 200m dash (25.67). She'll wrap up the event Friday with the long jump, javelin and 800m run.
Prelims
- The Mules 4x100m relay of Ariel Kerr, Brockton McLaughlin, Rawley Chard and Antonio Lay set a new school record for the fifth time this season, posting the top time in the men's 4x100m relay prelims at 39.67 to advance to the final on Saturday. That time is also a Francis G. Welch Stadium record.
- Antonio Lay narrowly missed qualifying for the men's 100m dash final, placing ninth in the prelims with a time of 10.18. The top eight advance to the final.
- Brooklynn Holtman finished 12th in the women's 400m dash prelims, running 54.22. She'll compete in the 200m dash prelims Friday.
