FIRST PITCH
  • No. 8 Central Missouri Jennies softball will face No. 9 Missouri Southern Lions in the opening round of the 2024 MIAA Softball Championships on Wednesday, May 1, at 3:00 p.m. from Gerry Pinkston Stadium in Edmond, Okla.
  • This will be UCM's 41st all-time appearance in the MIAA Softball Tournament with their latest title coming in the 2021 installment, which was held in Edmond.
  • Junior Hayden Serna was named to the All-MIAA Second Team as a designated player while freshman Taylor Thompson received All-MIAA Honorable Mention accolades at second base.    
  • The Jens split a pair of contests with the Northwest Missouri Bearcats (28-24, 15-11 MIAA) on Saturday, April 27, from Jennies Field in Warrensburg on Senior Day.

INDIVIDUAL MILESTONES
  • Senior outfielder Abby Allnutt became the latest member of the Jennies 100 Hit Club after recording a base-hit in the bottom of the sixth inning of game one against the Bearcats (April 27) on Senior Day.
  • Head Coach Susan Anderson collected her 700th career win in game two of their doubleheader sweep of Missouri – St. Louis (March 26) by a final score of 2-1. With the victory, Anderson secured win number 519 as head coach of the Jennies, which ranks second in program history.
  • Redshirt junior Paige Petefish pitched a perfect game in the 8-0 (5 inn.) victory over the Newman Jets (April 6) after tossing a no-hitter against the Lincoln Blue Tigers (March 19) in an 8-0 shutout win (5 inn.) striking out nine batters. Petefish currently ranks fifth all-time in saves (six) while her 43 wins in the circle is tied for fourth-most in program history.
  • Redshirt senior MaKenzie Cooper hit her first career grand slam in the 4-2 win over No. 3 Rogers State (March 29) after becoming a member of the 100 Hit Club against the Northwest Missouri Bearcats (4/28/2023). 
  • Freshman Taylor Thompson delivered her first career multi-homer outing in game one of a doubleheader against the Emporia State Hornets (March 23) as she drove in a career-best five RBI and scored twice going a perfect 4-for-4 at the dish.
  • Junior Laney Killpack belted her first career homerun leading off the bottom of the third inning in an 8-0 (5 inn.) victory over the Lincoln Blue Tigers (March 19).
  • Junior Hayden Serna hit her first career round-tripper in the bottom of the third inning on Tuesday, March 19 during an 8-0 (5 inn.) win in game one of a doubleheader against the Lincoln Blue Tigers.
  • Sophomore Andi Siebeneck collected her first career save in a 2-1 victory over the Bemidji State Beavers (March 15) tossing one hit-less inning of relief striking out one. 
  • Redshirt junior Breanna Newton hit her first home run as a Jen in game two of a doubleheader against No. 16 Pittsburg State (March 9).
  • Sophomore Carly Youngblood hit her first career home run in the top of the second inning in the 5-4 comeback victory over Illinois-Springfield (Feb. 9).
  • Freshman Brooke Weimer earned her first collegiate victory in the circle in a complete-game effort allowing six hits, four runs (three earned), while striking out 11 batters against Illinois-Springfield (Feb. 9) in a 5-4 victory. 
  • Senior Aubrie McRoberts collected career hit number 100 against the Rockhurst Hawks (4/17/2023).
 
SERIES HISTORY
  • #9 Missouri Southern: Ahead of Wednesday's contest, the Jens are 65-44 all-time against Missouri Southern dating back to the 1979 season with a record of 19-10 in neutral site games. Earlier this season, both teams split their doubleheader with UCM winning game on by a final score of 2-1 before falling 8-0 (6 inn.) on Sunday, March 10 from Pat Lipira Softball Complex in Joplin.
   
AROUND THE MIAA
  • Paige Petefish has allowed the third-fewest walks in the conference with 18.
  • Lexi Blackmon and Aubrie McRoberts have the fourth-most triples in MIAA play this season with two.
  • Andi Siebeneck is tied for fifth in the conference with three saves on the year.
  • Abby Allnutt has a 1.000 fielding percentage in MIAA play patrolling left field for the Jens.
  • Taylor Thompson's 10 homers overall on the year is tied for fifth in the MIAA, while in conference play is tied for third in home runs (seven), sixth in doubles (six), and sixth in RBI (26).
 
UCM DURING the ANDERSON ERA
  • Susan Anderson enters her 18th season as head coach of the Jennies where she is the second winningest coach in program history with a record of 504-376 (.572) becoming just the second coach in program history to eclipse 500 wins doing so in game two of a double header against Fort Hays State (April 16, 2023) on Senior Day.
  • Since her return to Warrensburg in 2006, Anderson has made 14 MIAA tournament appearances, five regional tournaments and one Elite Eight.
  • The 2015 Regional Coach of the Year has been named MIAA Coach of the Year three times in her career (twice named as head coach of the Jens) while coaching 18 first team All-MIAA selections, nine All-Region selections, two All-Americans and one MIAA MVP.
