WARRENSBURG, Mo. – The Central Missouri Jennies (23-26, 12-14 MIAA) split a pair of games with the Northwest Missouri Bearcats (28-24, 15-11 MIAA) dropping game one by a final score of 2-1 before winning game two 5-0, on Saturday, April 27 for Senior Day, from Jennies Field at the South Recreation Complex in Warrensburg.
Seven individuals were celebrated for their service to the softball program in a ceremony after game two which included
Melissa Angel,
Keeler van Breusegen,
Abby Allnutt,
Aubrie McRoberts,
Paige Petefish,
MaKenzie Cooper, and
Sadie Parks.
The Jens return to the diamond for the opening round of the 2024 MIAA Softball Championships beginning on Wednesday, May 1, as they take on the Missouri Southern Lions (32-21, 12-14 MIAA) at 3:00 p.m. from Gerry Pinkston Stadium in Edmond, Okla.
Game 1: Northwest Missouri 2, Central Missouri 1
The Jens took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the second inning with a sacrifice fly off the bat of senior
Aubrie McRoberts (scoring fellow senior
MaKenzie Cooper), but Northwest tied the game with a run in the fifth before scoring the game-winning run in the sixth.
In the bottom of the sixth, senior
Abby Allnutt became the latest member of the 100-hit club with a single into right field as
Paige Petefish (7-7) threw her ninth complete-game of the season allowing just two runs on seven hits while striking out three Bearcat batters.

Laney Killpack paced UCM offensively, each collecting a hit in the ballgame.
Game 2: Central Missouri 5, Northwest Missouri 0
With two on and two out in the bottom of the fourth inning, second baseman
Morgan Shields gave UCM a 2-0 lead with an RBI double into center field (scoring
Breanna Newton and Allnutt) before the Jens added a run in the fifth thanks to a sacrifice fly from
Taylor Thompson (scoring
Teelie Super).
Shields added to the Central Missouri lead in the sixth with a 2-run shot to left center field (her first as a Jen), scoring
Lexi Blackmon as senior
Sadie Parks (3-2) earned the victory in the circle allowing five hits and striking out two.
Shields went a perfect 3-for-3 at this dish with a season-best four RBI and one run scored pacing the Jens offensively, while
Jadyn Sheffield and Serna collected a hit each for good measure.
