WARRENSBURG, Mo. – Second-ranked Central Missouri Mules baseball dropped a 9-7 contest to the No. 9-ranked Missouri Southern Lions in game two of a three-game MIAA series Saturday, April 27, at Crane Stadium/Tompkins Field.
The Mules (42-6, 28-4 MIAA) and Lions (37-12, 24-8 MIAA) are slated to play the series finale of the three-game series Sunday, April 28, at noon in Warrensburg. UCM will honor its 2024 seniors in a postgame ceremony.
Missouri Southern trailed 6-0 before scoring five runs in the top of the eighth and four runs in the top of the ninth for the comeback win.
Max Holy and
Josh Patrick each had two hits, while
Carter Young hit his 14th homer of the season and drove in two runs and
Adamo Stornello doubled and had two RBIs, pacing the Mules at the plate.
UCM reliever
Grayson Senn (1-1) suffered the setback on the mound after allowing three runs – two earned – on three hits with one walk in the ninth inning.
Henry Kusiak went 3-for-4 with a double, home run and three RBIs, pacing Missouri Southern in the batter's box.
MSSU reliever Kyle Moore (3-2) earned the victory on the rubber, surrendering one earned run on one hit with one strikeout and one walk in two innings of work. Â
