WARRENSBURG, Mo. – Chase Heath went 4-for-4 with a homer leading No. 2-ranked Central Missouri Mules baseball to a 7-4 victory over the No. 9-ranked Missouri Southern Lions in the opening game of a three-game MIAA series Friday, April 26, at Crane Stadium/Tompkins Field.
The Mules (42-5, 28-3 MIAA) and Lions (36-12, 23-8 MIAA) are slated to play game two of the series Saturday, April 27, at noon in Warrensburg.
Heath had three singles in addition to his 13th home run of 2024 – a solo homer in the bottom of the eighth inning – for his 4-for-4 performance.
Carter Young was 2-for-3 with a triple and two runs and
Max Holy was 2-for-4 with two doubles, two runs scored and three RBIs, rounding out the UCM leaders at the plate.

Conner Wolf (10-0) earned the win on the mound, allowing four earned runs on seven hits with five strikeouts and two walks in five innings of work while reliever
JD McReynolds picked up his third save of 2024 after throwing scoreless eighth and ninth innings with four strikeouts and three walks.
Will Doherty was 2-for-4 with a pair of doubles and drove in two runs, pacing Missouri Southern offensively.
MSSU starting pitcher Cole Gayman (9-2) suffered the setback on the rubber, surrendering six earned runs on nine hits with one strikeout and four walks in five innings.
