Mules Track & Field's Evans Yamoah Captures Gold in High Jump at Africa Games

ACCRA, Ghana – University of Central Missouri Mules track & field high jumper Evans Yamoah captured a gold medal at the 13th Africa Games on Friday, March 22, in Accra, Ghana.

Yamoah, who represented his home country of Ghana at the games March 18-22, captured gold after recording a mark of 2.23m. His mark is the top mark in the entire continent of Africa and would be a UCM outdoor school record at an NCAA event.

The games, which are conducted every four years, featured 54 participating countries across 29 sports this year. Across all sports, there is a predicted global audience of around one billion people that follow the games through television, radio, and other virtual platforms.

Yamoah, who is the defending national runner-up in the outdoor high jump, and the Mules are scheduled to open the outdoor portion of their 2024 schedule March 29-30 at the Washington Distance Carnival and the SBU Bearcat Invitational.
