WARRENSBURG, Mo. – No. 5-ranked University of Central Missouri Mules baseball swept a doubleheader against the Arkansas Tech Wonder Boys Friday, Feb. 9, at Crane Stadium/Tompkins Field, winning game one, 10-2 in seven innings, before taking the nightcap, 5-4 in 12 innings.
The Mules (3-2) are scheduled to face Arkansas Tech (2-3) in another 1 p.m. twin bill Saturday, Feb. 10, in Warrensburg.
In the 10-2 game one win, UCM scored five runs in the fourth and sixth innings to coast to the victory.
Josh Patrick homered for a fourth consecutive game and drove in three runs while
Cole Moore went 2-for-3 with a double and RBI,
Jacob Steele went a perfect 2-for-2, and
Carter Young and
Brennen van Breusegen each drove in two runs, pacing Central Missouri at the plate in game one.
UCM right-handed starting pitcher
Conner Wolf (1-0) earned the win on the mound after allowing just one earned run on two hits with six strikeouts and only one walk in six innings.
In the 5-4, 12-inning win in game two,
Vance Tobol belted a walk-off home run to left-center in the bottom of the 12th inning to send UCM home victorious.
Tobol went 3-for-5 with two home runs and three RBIs while
Brett Grupe and Young each homered and van Breusegen added a triple, leading the Mules offensively in the nightcap.
Central Missouri reliever
Grayson Senn (1-0) picked up the game two win on the rubber, allowing no earned runs on one hit with three strikeouts and no walks in 1 2/3 innings of work.
