No. 5 Mules Baseball Secures Four-Game Series Sweep of Arkansas Tech Saturday, 11-3 and 2-1

WARRENSBURG, Mo. – No. 5-ranked University of Central Missouri Mules baseball completed a four-game series sweep of the Arkansas Tech Wonder Boys after winning a pair of games Saturday, Feb. 10, at Crane Stadium/Tompkins Field, 11-3 and 2-1.

The Mules (5-2) are scheduled to host Davenport in a four-game series in Warrensburg Feb. 16-18.

In UCM's 11-3 victory in game one over the Wonder Boys (2-5), the Mules used a six-run bottom of the fourth inning to take control of the game.

Vance Tobol, Brett Grupe, Max Holy and Brennen van Breusegen all tallied home runs in the contest, with Grupe also tallying a triple. Jack Schark, Josh Patrick and Jacob Steele added doubles. Schark, Tobol and Grupe all had two RBIs in the game.

The homers marked the third of the season for Tobol, second for Grupe, and first for both Holy and van Breusegen.

UCM starting pitcher Jonah Walker (1-0) earned the victory on the mound in game one, throwing four innings and allowing no earned runs on three hits with five strikeouts and two walks.

Logan Schwenke had a double on two hits, pacing the Wonder Boys offensive in the opening contest.

Arkansas Tech pitcher Mason Willis (1-1) suffered the loss on the rubber, giving up five runs – two earned – on seven hits with two strikeouts and a walk in three innings.

Game two saw the Mules and Wonder Boys play to a 1-1 tie until Tobol hit a walk-off single in the bottom of the ninth inning to give Central Missouri the 2-1 win. It was Tobol's second walk-off hit in three games, as he had the walk-off homer in the 12th inning of Friday's 5-4 victory.

Tobol and Patrick each recorded two hits while Chase Heath hit his first home run of the season, pacing the Mules in the batter's box in game two.

UCM reliever Harrison Babbitt (1-0) picked up the win in the nightcap, tossing a scoreless top of the ninth inning.

Arkansas Tech pitcher Mason Griffin (0-1) took the setback in the second contest after surrendering one earned run on two hits with four strikeouts and three walks in 1 2/3 innings.
