HOUSTON – No. 5-ranked University of Central Missouri Mules baseball fell to No. 3-ranked Tampa, 16-4, in its final game of the Houston Winter Invitational Sunday, Feb. 4, inside Minute Maid Park in downtown Houston, Texas.
The Mules (1-2) are scheduled to host Arkansas Tech (1-1) for a four-game series Feb. 9-11 at Crane Stadium/Tompkins Field in Warrensburg.

Jack Schark and
Jacob Steele all had two hits in the game while
Josh Patrick homered for the third straight contest and
Carter Young added a double, pacing Central Missouri at the plate.
UCM starting pitcher
Jacob Merithew (0-1) suffered the loss on the mound after allowing four earned runs on three hits with one strikeout in 1 2/3 innings of work.
E.J. Cumbo went 3-for-4 with three runs scored, a home run and two RBIs while Jake Griffith homered and four RBIs and Brayden Woodburn drove in three runs and doubled, leading the Spartans (3-0) offensively.
Tampa reliever Ashton Pocol (1-0) earned the win on the rubber, giving up one earned run on two hits with one strikeout and one walk in two innings.
