Box Score 2 BENTONVILLE, Ark. – The Central Missouri Jennies (2-2, 0-0) split a pair of games in the final day of the Alvy Early Memorial Classic falling to the Missouri S&T Miners (3-4, 0-0) by a final score of 5-4 (8 innings) before defeating the Southeastern Oklahoma State Savage Storm (3-5, 0-0) 3-2 from Memorial Park in Bentonville, Ark.
The Jens return to the diamond on Friday, Feb. 16, as they take on the Southeastern Oklahoma State Savage Storm (3-5, 0-0) beginning at 10:30 a.m. before taking on the Missouri S&T Miners (3-4, 0-0) at 1:30 p.m. in the opening day of the Raising Cane's Softball Festival from Edmond, Okla.
Game 1: Missouri S&T 5, Central Missouri 4
UCM opened the scoring in the bottom of the second as redshirt sophomore
Lexi Blackmon plated two (
Aubrie McRoberts and
Teelie Super) with an RBI single, but the Miners responded with a pair of runs in the top of the fourth and fifth innings taking a 4-2 lead.
In the ensuing frame, the Jens cut the lead in half thanks to catcher
Taylor Thompson's RBI triple (scoring
Jadyn Sheffield) and tied the game with a pinch-hit RBI from
Carly Youngblood, but S&T would plate the winning run in the top of the eighth inning picking up their third victory on the year.
Game 2: Central Missouri 3, Illinois-Springfield 2
Central Missouri plated all three runs in the top of the second beginning with a
Laney Killpack RBI single that scored
Taylor Thompson and
Carly Youngblood, followed by a
Lexi Blackmon RBI single.
The Savage Storm answered with a lone run in the bottom of the second and third, as freshman Brooke Wiemer (2-0) allowed two runs (two earned) on six hits while striking out three in four innings of work while redshirt junior
Paige Petefish earned the save in relief allowing just one hit and struck out a pair for good measure.
