SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – Former University of Central Missouri Team Physician Dr. David Glover has been selected as a member of the 2025 Missouri Sports Hall of Fame enshrinement class, the organization announced Friday, Dec. 6.
Glover, who was inducted into the UCM Athletic Hall of Fame in 2016 and the Missouri Athletic Trainers Hall of Fame in 2024, was the team physician for the Mules and Jennies from 1989 until his retirement after the 2023-24 athletic year. He was instrumental in bringing early computer-based concussion care and EKG screening to Central Missouri, helping keep UCM at the forefront of NCAA Division II institutions for optimizing the safety of student-athletes.
In addition, Glover served as the team physician for Warrensburg High School Football from 1988-2008.
Glover was a physician for Central Family and Sports Medicine in Warrensburg from 1981 until retiring in June 2024, but still works in a part-time capacity for Western Missouri Medical Center assisting the University of Central Missouri Health Center.
He earned his Certificate of Added Qualifications (CAQ) Sports Medicine Certification in 1993, served on the MSHSAA Sports Medicine Advisory Committee from 1994 to 2020 and was the National Federation of High School Associations' liaison for AMSSM in 1995 and 1996.
Glover also was a charter member of the American Medical Society for Sports Medicine. Among his numerous published works is "Sideline Preparedness for the Team Physician: A Consensus Statement."
He has been a member of the Missouri Academy of Family Physicians and the American Academy of Family Physicians since 1978, and the American Medical Society of Sports Medicine since 1992.
Dr. Glover earned his bachelor's and doctoral degrees from the University of Missouri-Kansas City.
The 2025 Missouri Sports Hall of Fame induction ceremony is scheduled for Sunday, Feb. 2, at 1 p.m. at the Ozark Empire Fairgrounds in Springfield, Mo.Â
