No. 7 Jennies Volleyball Falls to No. 2 Missouri Western in MIAA Championship Quarterfinals

ST JOSEPH, Mo. – The Central Missouri Jennies (11-15, 7-9 MIAA) fell to No. 2 Missouri Western Griffons (23-6, 12-4 MIAA) by a final score of 3-1 (27-25, 18-25, 26-28, 17-25) on Thursday, Nov. 21, during the 2024 MIAA Volleyball Championship quarterfinals from the St. Joseph Civic Arena in downtown St. Joe.       
 
The Jens took the opening set of the match by a score of 27-25, finishing it off on a 6-1 run highlighted by a pair of kills from freshman Grace Wagers (career-high 18 kills on 32 attempts for a .406 attack percentage with three blocks overall), who ended the set with seven kills on just nine swings for a .778 hitting percentage.
 
After dropping the second set, Central Missouri began the third on a 5-0 run, but the Griffons outlasted the deficit taking a 2-1 lead before earning their 23rd victory of the season with a 25-17 win in the fourth.
 
Setter Regan Willms contributed a double-double performance with 41 assists, 10 digs, a match-high four service aces, and two kills while senior Tiffany Little and outside hitter Maya Fergerson ended the match with 11 kills and three digs for good measure.
 
Redshirt junior Grace Winkelmann collected a match-high 21 digs pacing the back row defensively, plus defensive specialist Emma Wheeler had 13 digs and freshman Brenna Kelly added nine digs on the afternoon.
 
Second Team All-MIAA selection Rachel Ziesman had a match-high five blocks (including a career-best three solo blocks) and nine kills while senior Arley Anderson collected eight digs and middle blocker Elinor Engel had four kills and two digs.
