Scene Setter
  • Central Missouri volleyball continues the 2024 season with a pair of conference matches against the Arkansas-Fort Smith Lions (Friday, Oct. 4 at 6:00 p.m.) and No. 13 Central Oklahoma Bronchos (Saturday, Oct. 5 at 2:00 p.m.) from Dr. Peggy Martin Court inside the Jerry M. Hughes Athletics Center in Warrensburg.
  • Prior to Friday's contest with the Lions, Central Missouri will have a special presentation for 10-year-old Morgan Steeby, the newest member of the Jennies volleyball team announced during a NLI (National Letter of Intent) ceremony on Monday, Sept. 9, in partnership with Team Impact.
  • Friday will also serve as "Greek Night" as the first 100 students will receive free pizza (while supplies last) with the presentation of a valid student ID.
  • Saturday's match against No. 13 UCO will be our annual "Red Out" match as the first 50 students will receive a free red UCM t-shirt (with the presentation of a valid student ID) as all fans are encouraged to sport their red Jennies apparel.
  • The Jens split a pair of matches last week falling to No. 3 Nebraska-Kearney before defeating the Fort Hays State Tigers 3-1 (23-25, 25-15, 25-13, 25-16), highlighted by a match-high 20 kills from sophomore Maya Fergerson on Saturday, Sept. 28.  
 
How to Watch
  • Friday and Saturday's matches are available on a pay-per-view basis through the MIAA Network with coverage beginning at 6:00 p.m. on Friday and 2:00 p.m. on Saturday from Dr. Peggy Martin Court, inside the Jerry M. Hughes Athletics Center in Warrensburg.
 
Meet the Jens  
Series History
  • Arkansas-Fort Smith: This will be just the third matchup all-time between the Lions and Jennies as Arkansas-Fort Smith enters their first season in the MIAA. Central Missouri has won the previous two meetings which occurred during the 2010 and 2018 seasons.    
  • No. 13 Central Oklahoma: Heading into play on Saturday afternoon, the Jens hold a 21-5 advantage against UCO dating back to the 1992 season. UCM has won eight of the last nine matches including three of the last four played in Warrensburg.    
 
Jens By the Numbers
  • Central Missouri is averaging 15.2 digs, 13.4 kills, 12.5 assists, 2.1 blocks and 1.5 service aces per set through 11 matches this season. 
  • Middle blocker Elinor Engel's 173.5 points (fifth in the conference), 151 kills (third in the MIAA), and 3.51 kills per set is the most by a Jen this season while her 33 total blocks are third-most. The Shawnee, Kan. native recorded a career-high 22 kills in the 3-1 victory over the Drury Panthers (Sept. 20) and is one of two players to start all 11 matches this year. 
  • Junior Rachel Ziesman's 44 total blocks paces UCM defensively in the front row while posting the third-most points (129.5) and kills (106) on the team. Ziesman posted a season-best 16 kills against Wheeling (Sept. 14) and is one of two players to start all 11 matches for Central Missouri in 2024.
  • Libero Grace Winkelmann leads the Jens defensively in the back row with 195 digs, averaging 4.53 digs pet set, adding a UCM-best 12 service aces on the year. The Rhineland, Mo. native collected her 1,000th career dig in the 3-1 (25-22, 16-25, 25-23, 25-18) victory over Seattle Pacific in Denver, Colo while collecting double-digit digs in all 11 matches this year including a season-best 26 against Wheeling (Sept. 14).  
  • Setter Kayla Baer paces UCM with 261 assists, averaging 11.35 per set in six matches this season. The Wesley Chapel, Fla. native had a career-high 55 assists in the 3-1 victory over Drury (Sept. 20) while posting 30 or more assists six times in 2024.  
  • Sophomore Maya Fergerson is second on the team in kills (122), kills per set (3.49), and points (132) while posting the fourth-most blocks (18) on the year. The Independence, Mo. native has secured double-digit kills in eight matches this season including two matches with 20 or more.
  • Senior Tiffany Little's 85 digs and 2.66 digs per set rank second on the team adding 57 kills (fourth), 10 total blocks, and five service aces. The Parker, Colo. native had a double-double performance against the Fort Hays State Tigers (Sept. 28) with 17 kills on 32 swings (.469 hitting percentage) and 12 digs for good measure.
 
UCM in the Postseason
  • The Jens made their 37th NCAA Tournament appearance in program history last season and the first under 2023 MIAA Coach of the Year Caitlin Peterson as the Jens have a 41-41 overall record including eight NCAA Regional Championships.
