Alex Gentry and
Robert Sager earned Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) All-America Scholar accolades for their performances in the classroom and on the course during the 2022-23 academic year, it was announced Wednesday, Aug. 9.
To be eligible for GCAA All-America Scholar nomination, an individual must be a sophomore, junior or senior both academically and athletically in NCAA Division I, II, III, and NAIA, or receiving their Associate's Degree and in their last year of athletic eligibility in the NJCAA. In addition, they must participate in 50% percent of their team's competitive rounds, have a stroke average under 76.0 in NCAA Division I, under 78.0 in NCAA Division II, under 79.0 in NCAA Division III, under 78.0 in NAIA, and under 77.0 in NJCAA, and maintain a minimum cumulative career grade-point average of 3.2. A recipient must also be of high moral character and be in good standing at their college or university.
Dillon compiled a 3.49 GPA as a economics major and posted a 75.90 stroke average, Elling tallied a GPA of 3.60 as a digital media production major and compiled a stroke average of 76.29, Gentry, the 2023 MIAA Men's Golf Individual Champion, posted a GPA of 3.27 as a sport management major while compiling a team-best stroke average of 73.54, and Sager tallied a GPA of 3.94 as a communications studies major and had a stroke average of 76.23.
214 NCAA Division II athletes from 80 schools earned 2022-23 GCAA All-America Scholar honors.
