Jennies Bowling Adds Five Student-Athletes for 2023-24

WARRENSBURG, Mo. – University of Central Missouri Jennies Bowling has added five more players to its roster for the 2023-24 season, head coach Ron Holmes announced Monday, July 24. 

The group is led by incoming freshman Myla Cathey and transfers Emma Hawley, Camryn Cramer, Kaylee Manning. Also rejoining the squad is former All-Conference player Bree Heathscott. They join early signees and 2023 NYHS State Champions and First Team All-State honorees Jenna and Julia Speich.

"We are really excited to add such a diverse group of ladies to our team," Holmes said. "Several of these ladies will step into spots right away and help our team on and off the lanes. We have been able to address several important issues with these additions, and we are looking forward to seeing how all of the ladies work and grow together. Especially important will be the return of the veteran Bree Heathscott, whose career was previously postponed due to personal medical issues. Several of these new players have high levels of team experience and athletic success. We are excited to see what our 2023-24 team can grow into as they learn and play together at the highest levels of NCAA Bowling."

Myla Cathey
5-6 – RH – A&M Consolidated High School - College Station, Texas

Cathey comes to UCM after a successful youth career, earning the 2023 Rising Star Award from the Texas Bowling Writers. She was also a two-time Girls Scratch Champion of the Brazos Valley Youth Tournament (2022, 23). In addition to several other youth awards, Cathey finished eighth in All-Events at the 2020 Texas USBC State Tournament. Academically, Cathey graduated in the top four percent of her class with a 4.49 GPA and earned 2023 AP Scholar with Distinction honors. She earned multiple academic awards, including first place in the 2022 George H.W Bush Presidential Library & Museum Essay Contest and she was the Editor-in-Chief of the A&M CHS Newspaper. The daughter of Misty and Greg Cathey, she will wear #11 and plans to major in Psychology and communication studies.

Camryn Cramer
5-4 – LH – San Francisco St. University - Elkhorn, Neb.

Cramer comes to Central Missouri after completing her college freshman year playing NCAA Division II softball at San Francisco State University in California. As a prep two-sport star, Cramer was also a four-time Bowler of the Year in Girls Bowling for the Elks and Head Coach Lindsay Struble at Elkhorn High School (Neb.). In the classroom, Cramer earned Dean's List honors at SFSU. Academically, she also earned Lincoln Journal Star Academic All-State honors in 2020-21 and was a member of National Honor Society. Cramer's high game is 279, a high series of 701 and a high average of 203. The daughter of Jen and JC Cramer, she plans to study marketing and will wear #77 this season.

5-6 – RH – Upper Iowa University - Goodrich, Mich.

Hawley transfers to UCM after one year at Upper Iowa University. She played in seven competitions and 740 frames for the Peacocks last season, averaging 17.27 in combined frame average. Prior to attending UIU, Hawley helped lead Coach Brian Davis's Davison High School team to two top-four MHSAA Girls Division 1 State Finals finishes (2020-22). Her team was also the 2021 Division 1 Regional Champion, and she won the 2021 Regional Individual title. She also earned multiple Saginaw Valley Conference honors during her career. Her high game is 279 and high average of 213. The daughter of Katie and Robert Hawley, Hawley will wear #35 this fall and plans to major in Biology/pre-medicine.

Bree (Zimmerman) Heathscott
5-5 – RH – Harlem High School (Ill.) - Green Ridge, Mo.

Heathscott returns to the Central Missouri after three years away to complete her undergraduate degree and start her professional career at UCM. She was the Most Outstanding Player of the Jennies' MIAA Conference Championship in 2017 and is a two-time All-Conference selection and four-time NTCA All-Academic honoree. Heathscott was also part of the Jennies' 2016 NCAA Championship qualifying team in 2016. She competed in 33 events during her first span with the Jennies averaging 18.70 for the 267 NCAA matches and earning one collegiate event award. Heathscott's high game is 300 and high series is 752. Heathscott's husband is Staff Sargent Joey Heathscott; she will wear #8 while working on her MBA.

Kaylee Manning
5-8 – RH – Hesston College (Kan.) - El Dorado, Kan.

Manning comes to Warrensburg after graduating from at Hesston College (NJCAA) and playing third base for the Larks softball team. She was hitting .310 last season before a knee injury ended her season. Manning also briefly attended classes at Butler CC. Academically, she has maintained a 3.4 GPA prior to attending UCM. Manning bowled for Destiny Bowlin's Wildcats at El Dorado High School in addition to playing two other varsity sports. She earned All-Tournament honors at the Buhler Invitational in 2021. Manning's high average is 190. The daughter of Jennifer and Justin Manning, she is studying to become a professional pilot.
