JOPLIN, Mo. – No. 18-ranked Central Missouri Mules baseball fell to the No. 4-ranked Missouri Southern Lions, 3-2, in the series finale of a three-game MIAA series Saturday afternoon, April 8, at Warren Turner Field.
The Mules (27-10, 18-5 MIAA) are scheduled to host Missouri Western (9-26, 6-17 MIAA) in a midweek MIAA contest Tuesday, April 11, at 6 p.m. at Crane Stadium/Tompkins Field in Warrensburg.
Jack Schark went 3-for-4 with a double and triple while 
Isaiah Pani was 2-for-4, leading Central Missouri at the plate.
UCM right-handed starter 
Cole LaLonde (1-1) suffered the loss on the mound after giving up two earned runs on four hits with two strikeouts and one walk in 3 2/3 innings.
Matt Miller went 2-for-4 with two homers and three RBI, pacing Missouri Southern (29-10, 17-6 MIAA) offensively.
Lions starter Cole Gayman (4-0) earned the victory on the rubber, allowing two earned runs on six hits with seven strikeouts and zero walks in six innings. Reliever Kyle Moore secured his third save of 2023 after throwing three innings out of the bullpen and surrendering no earned runs on one hit with two strikeouts and no walks.
