TAHLEQUAH, Okla. – Brennen van Breusegen,
Carter Young and
Vance Tobol each homered as the Central Missouri Mules baseball rolled past the Northeastern State RiverHawks, 12-2 in seven innings, in the opening game of a three-game MIAA series Saturday, March 4, at Rousey Field.
The Mules (11-5, 4-0 MIAA) and RiverHawks (7-7, 2-2 MIAA) are scheduled to play game two of the series at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 5, in Tahlequah.
Van Breusegen went 2-for-3 with four runs scored and his fourth home run of the season,
Jack Schark was a perfect 3-of-3 with a double, three RBI and two runs, Young was 3-of-5 with his third homer of 2023, and Tobol was 2-of-5 with his third home run of the season, two runs and four RBI, leading Central Missouri at the plate in the victory.
UCM right-hander
Conner Wolf (2-2) earned the victory on the mound after allowing just two earned runs on three hits with six strikeouts and zero walks in five innings.
DeClaudio Irvin homered and had a pair of RBI, pacing Northeastern State offensively in the game.
Left-hander Seth Stacey suffered the setback on the rubber, giving up eight runs – six earned – on 10 hits with one strikeout in four innings of work.
