ST. JOSEPH, Mo. – Central Missouri Mules baseball tallied 14 runs on 12 hits as it turned back the Missouri Western Griffons, 14-7, in a midweek MIAA game Tuesday, March 28, at the Spring Sports Complex.
The Mules (22-8, 14-3 MIAA) are scheduled to return home to Crane Stadium/Tompkins Field for a three-game MIAA series against Washburn (19-11, 12-4 MIAA) March 31-April 2.
Central Missouri scored 13 of its 14 runs in the game in the fifth and sixth innings, plating six in the top of the fifth and seven in the top of the sixth. UCM's final run occurred in the top of the seventh.
Jack Schark,
Cole Moore and
Chase Wilcox all had two hits in the game while
Brennen van Breusegen and Wilcox tallied doubles, Moore compiled a team-best three RBI, and
Carter Young,
John Prudhom,
Vance Tobol and van Breusegen each drove in two runs, leading the Mules at the plate.
UCM reliever
Jonah Walker (1-0) picked up the victory on the mound after throwing an inning of relief and allowing one unearned run on one hit with one strikeout and zero walks.
Bryson McArn had a pair of hits, including a triple, pacing the Griffons (6-21, 3-14 MIAA) offensively.
Missouri Western starting pitcher Caleb Peterson suffered the setback on the rubber after giving up four earned runs on five hits with one strikeout and one walk in 4 2/3 innings.
