KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Brooke Littrell netted 16 points and
Ashley Tull netted 14 points leading No. 10-ranked Central Missouri Jennies basketball past the Central Oklahoma Bronchos, 82-60, in the MIAA Women's Basketball Championship, presented by Southern Bank, quarterfinals Thursday, March 2, inside historic Municipal Auditorium.
The Jennies (24-3), who are the No. 2 seed in the tournament, advance to the semifinals with the victory and will face the winner of the No. 3 seed Missouri Western and No. 6 seed Fort Hays State quarterfinal contest on Saturday, March 4, at 8:15 p.m. in downtown Kansas City, Mo.
Littrell, redshirt sophomore from Green City, Mo., went 7-for-13 from the floor, including a 1-of-2 showing from three-point range, and 1-of-2 at the free-throw line for her 16 points while also pulling down a game-best eight rebounds.
A junior from Troy Mills, Iowa, Tull made five out of six attempts from the field and was 4-of-6 at the foul line for her 14 points. She,
Olivia Nelson and
Ali Vigil each compiled seven rebounds, with Nelson reaching double figures in scoring, tallying 11 points.
Cierra Smith rounded out the Jennies scoring in double figures with 11 points.
For the game, Central Missouri shot 49 percent from the field, going 30-of-61, and were 19-of-26 at the free-throw line for 73 percent.
UCM dominated the glass, outrebounding Central Oklahoma (11-17), 58-27. The Jennies outscored the Bronchos in the paint, 52-22, on second chance points, 24-7, and bench points, 31-7.
Aliyah Llanusa netted 19 points, pacing UCO in the game.
