HOUSTON, Texas – A late comeback attempt came up one run short at No. 13-ranked Central Missouri Mules baseball fell to Montevallo, 11-10, in the Houston Winter Invitational Saturday, Feb. 4, at Minute Maid Park.
The Mules (0-2) are scheduled face Flagler College (0-2) to wrap up play in Houston Sunday, Feb. 5, at 1:30 p.m.
John Prudhom went 2-for-3 with his second homer of the season and four RBI while
Carter Young was a perfect 3-for-3 with a double and
Jacob Steele tallied his first home run of the season, pacing UCM at the plate.
Asa Awbrey was 2-for-2 with a homer and three RBI, and Matt Simon was 2-for-3 with a home run and drove in a pair of runs, leading Montevallo (2-0) offensively.
JJ Pease (1-0) earned the victory on the mound in relief for the Falcons, tossing 3 2/3 innings and allowing three earned runs on five hits with six strikeouts and no walks while Griffin Lape secured the save.
Conner Wolf (0-1) suffered the loss on the rubber for the Mules, giving up five earned runs on six hits with two strikeouts.
