No. 10 Jennies Basketball Opens Season with 71-55 Win Over Northern State

CLAREMORE, Okla. – Olivia Nelson scored 19 points and Brooke Littrell added 18 points as the No. 10-ranked University of Central Missouri Jennies basketball team opened its 2023-24 season with a 71-55 win over the Northern State Wolves Friday, Nov. 10, inside the Claremore Expo Center.

The Jennies (1-0) are scheduled to face MSU Moorhead Saturday, Nov. 11, at 2 p.m. in Claremore.

Nelson, a redshirt junior from Kansas City, Mo., netted her game-high 19 points on 8-for-16 shooting from the field and a 1-of-2 performance at the free-throw line and added five assists and five steals while Littrell, a redshirt junior out of Green City, Mo., scored her 18 points on 7-for-18 shooting from the floor and a 3-of-4 showing at the foul line and snagged six rebounds to go along with five steals. Allie Clevenger also reached double figures with 10 points, and Ashley Tull pulled down a team-high seven rebounds. 

Central Missouri outscored Northern State (0-1) in the fourth quarter, 23-11, to turn a 48-44 lead into the 71-55 victory.

For the game, UCM shot 41 percent from the field (27-of-65), 35 percent from three-point range (7-of-20) and 63 percent at the free-throw line (10-for-16). The Jennies outrebounded the Wolves, 35-29, and scored 24 points off 24 Northern State turnovers in the contest. UCM also inched past NSU in points in the paint, 38-34. 

Madelyn Bragg scored 19 points and Rianna Fillipi netted 13 points to lead the Wolves.
