COLUMBIA, Mo. – The Central Missouri cross country teams competed at the Brian T. Simpson Invitational on Saturday, Oct. 7, hosted by the University of Missouri - St. Louis from the Gans Creek Cross Country Course in Columbia, Mo.
The Jennies finished in fifth place overall out of 11 teams with a total time of 1:39:41.33 highlighted by three top-25 finishes including graduate student
Katie Bean (14
th place with a time of 18:52.65), sophomore
Chloee Belgum (time of 19:08.8, good enough for 18
th position), and senior
McKenzie Bergman (25
th place with a time of 19:41.54).
Rounding out the scoring for the Jens was junior
Lilly Geelan who crossed the finish line in 31
st place with a time of 20:14.79, while freshman
Emily Keck finished the 5k in 21:43.47, good enough for 49
th position respectively.
On the men's side, the Mules placed sixth out of eight teams with an overall time of 2:14:15.02 including two top-30 finishes in Warrensburg, Mo. native
Colton Palmer (finished in 12
th place with a time of 25:37.82) and junior
Justin Glastetter (time of 26:41.25) placing 29
th for good measure.
Freshman
Tyler Adams placed 34
th with a time of 27:02.33, plus, sophomore
Lucas Wright ran the 8k race in 27:19.05 placing 38
th and rounding out the scoring for UCM was freshman
Sam Mathis finishing in 40
th position with a time of 27:34.57.
The Mules and Jennies next meet is scheduled for Friday, Oct. 20, as they travel to Columbia, Mo. for the MIAA Conference Championships from the Gans Creek Cross Country Course in Columbia, Mo.
