Jennies Soccer Voted Preseason Favorite by MIAA

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The defending MIAA Regular Season and NCAA-II Central Region Champion Central Missouri Jennies soccer team was voted as the preseason favorite in the 2022 MIAA Women's Soccer Preseason Coaches Poll released Friday, Aug. 12, by the conference office.

The Jennies tallied 121 points and 11 of 12 first-place votes for the number one spot.

Reigning MIAA Postseason Tournament Champion Emporia State was tabbed number two with 105 points and the final first-place vote while Central Oklahoma had 103 points and rounded out the top-three in third.

Northwest Missouri was fourth with 93 points, followed by Missouri Western in fifth with 75 points, Northeastern State in sixth with 66 points, Fort Hays State in seventh with 61 points and Washburn in eighth with 60 points.

Rogers State (43 points), Missouri Southern (30 points), Newman (22 points) and Nebraska Kearney (13 points) rounded out the poll, respectively.

The Jennies, who posted an overall record of 20-4-1 and captured the MIAA Regular Season Title with a conference mark of 9-1-1, return nine starters from 2021.

Central Missouri is scheduled to open its 2022 campaign with a pair of home matches at the South Recreation Complex in Warrensburg Aug. 25 vs. SWOSU and Aug. 27 vs. Oklahoma Baptist.
