DETROIT – No. 11-ranked Central Missouri Mules golf posted an opening round of 12-over par 300, finishing in eighth place on the opening day of action at the NCAA-II Men's Golf Championship Monday, May 16, at TPC of Michigan.

The Mules are 12 strokes behind clubhouse leader UIndy, which posted an 18-hole, even-par 288, while Barry is in second at 2-over par 290 and Colorado State-Pueblo is in third at 7-over par 295, rounding out the top-three on day one.

Central Missouri needs to remain in the top-eight in the team standings through the final two rounds of stroke play to advance to head-to-head match play Thursday.

Nick Westrich fired an 18-hole, 1-under par 71 and is tied for fifth, pacing the Mules on the leaderboard.

Thomas Henson is tied for 33rd at 3-over par 75, Matt Hoemann and Sam Parrott are tied for 54th at 5-over par 77, and Alex Gentry is tied for 74th at 7-over par 79, wrapping up the UCM scoring.

UIndy's Oliver Mast sits on top of the individual leaderboard through 18 holes at 3-under par 69.

The second round of stroke play is scheduled for Tuesday, May 17. Central Missouri has the early tee times in round two, teeing off at 6:30 a.m. CT (7:30 a.m. ET).
