Mules Baseball Holds Top Spot in Third NCAA-II Central Region Rankings

INDIANAPOLIS – No. 2-ranked Central Missouri Mules baseball remained number one in the third set of NCAA-II Central Region rankings released Wednesday, May 11, by the NCAA. This is the final set of rankings that will be unveiled before the NCAA-II Baseball Championship Selection Show May 15.

The Mules, who are 39-6 overall, are one of four MIAA teams in the third set of rankings. Northeastern State is sixth, Pittsburg State is seventh and Washburn is eighth. 

The top eight teams from the MIAA, Northern Sun and Great American Conferences in the final regional rankings released during the NCAA-II Baseball Championship Selection Show on NCAA.com May 15 at 9 p.m. CT advance to play in the NCAA-II Central Region Tournament May 19-21.

The top-two seeds in the final rankings each host a sub-regional followed by a best two-of-three mini tournament to determine the regional champion.

Augustana [S.D.] (39-8-1) held down the number two spot while Southern Arkansas (38-11) was third, followed by Henderson State (35-13) in fourth and Minnesota State (35-7) in fifth, rounding out the top-five teams. 

Northeastern State (36-14), Pittsburg State (31-19), Washburn (31-18), St. Cloud State (36-11) and Ouachita (29-20) wrapped up the final five spots in the rankings. 

The Mules, who are the top seed in the MIAA Baseball Championship, face fifth-seeded Washburn in the MIAA Baseball Championship semifinals Thursday, May 12, at noon in Edmond, Okla.
