Mules Baseball Tops First NCAA-II Central Region Rankings

INDIANAPOLIS – No. 4-ranked Central Missouri Mules baseball is the top team in the first NCAA Division II Central Region rankings released Wednesday, April 27.

The Mules, who are 34-6 overall and 27-3 in the MIAA, are one of five MIAA teams in the first set of rankings. Northeastern State (29-12) is sixth, Washburn (27-13) is seventh, Pittsburg State (26-17) is ninth and Missouri Southern (25-16) is 10th.

The top eight teams from the MIAA, Northern Sun and Great American Conferences in the final regional rankings released during the NCAA-II Baseball Championship Selection Show on NCAA.com May 15 advance to play in the NCAA-II Central Region Tournament May 19-21.

The top-two seeds in the final rankings each host a sub-regional followed by a best two-of-three mini tournament to determine the regional champion.

Southern Arkansas (35-9) is second in the rankings, followed by Augustana [S.D.] (25-5) in third, Henderson State (31-11) in fourth and Minnesota State (21-3) in fifth, rounding out the top-five.

Northeastern State, Washburn, Minot State (18-10), Pittsburg State and Missouri Southern wrap up the rankings.

The Mules are scheduled to wrap the regular season with a three-game MIAA series at Fort Hays State April 29-May 1 in Hays, Kan.
