WARRENSBURG, Mo.-- Central Missouri Jennies softball split a non-conference doubleheader against the University of Missouri - St. Louis Tritons Tuesday, April 19, at Jennies Field at the South Recreation Complex, winning game one, 8-0 in five innings, before dropping game two, 5-1.
The Jennies (15-32) are slated to travel to Kansas City, Mo., for a non-conference doubleheader against William Jewell Tuesday, April 26, at 2 p.m. at the Kansas City Urban Youth Academy.
Game 1: Central Missouri 8, Missouri - St. Louis 0 (5 inn.)
Carrying a 1-0 lead after one inning, the Jennies scored four runs in the bottom of the third and added three more in the bottom of the fourth to roll to the 8-0, run-rule win in game one over the Tritons.
Makenzie McAtee went 3-for-3 with her team-best fourth homer of the season and a triple, while driving in a game and career-high six runs, and
Bailey Lovelace and
Abby Allnutt also posted triples, leading UCM at the plate in the opener.
Kyleigh Lay (7-11) earned the victory for UCM in the circle, going the full five innings for a complete-game and allowing no earned runs on just two hits with seven strikeouts and just one walk.
Irene Travis went 1-for-3 with a double, pacing UMSL in game one.
Annie Scaramuzzi (11-4) suffered the setback in the opener for Missouri - St. Louis, allowing eight runs -- five earned -- on seven hits with one strikeout and one walk in four innings.
Game 2: Missouri - St. Louis 5, Central Missouri 1
Central Missouri fell behind 3-0 in the top of the first and could never recover in the 5-1 game two loss.
Abby Allnutt went 2-for-3 with a double and drove in UCM's lone run, pacing the Jennies offensively.
Gentry Wishard (4-8) suffered the loss in the circle for Central Missouri, allowing five earned runs on eight hits with no strikeouts and no walks in 4 2/3 innings.
Anna VanGundy went a perfect 3-for-3, while Megan Brown homered and tallied a pair of runs batted in, leading the Tritons (27-16) at the plate in game two.
Magan Brown (2-4) picked up the victory in the second contest, throwing the full seven innings and surrendering one unearned run on five hits with five strikeouts and one walk.
