Third Quarter Surge Leads Jennies to 82-62 Victory at Lincoln in Regular Season Finale

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. – Nija Collier and Brooke Littrell both scored 28 points to lead Central Missouri Jennies Basketball to an 82-62 victory over the Lincoln Blue Tigers Saturday, Feb. 26, inside Jason Gymnasium in the final game of the regular season for both teams.

The Jennies (19-10, 15-7 MIAA) will be the No. 4 seed in the MIAA Women's Basketball Championship presented by Citizen's Bank & Trust and will face No. 5 seed Missouri Western Friday, March 4, at noon inside historical Municipal Auditorium in downtown Kansas City, Mo., in an opening round contest.

Collier went 10-for-22 from the field and 8-of-11 at the free-throw line for her game-high-tying 28 points and added a game-best 15 rebounds for her team-high 17th double-double of the season while Littrell netted her 28 points on 11-for-19 shooting and a 5-of-6 performance the foul line.

Charley Bovaird (12 points) and Olivia Nelson (10 points) also scored in double figures for the Jennies, with Nelson dishing out a team-best five assists.

Central Missouri led 34-24 through the opening 20 minutes of the game before outscoring Lincoln (5-23, 1-21 MIAA), 26-13, in the third quarter to go up 60-37 and never look back.

For the game, UCM shot 48 percent (29-of-60) from the field, 53 percent (8-of-15) from three-point range and were 16-of-23 at the free-throw line for 70 percent.

The Jennies dominated in the glass, outrebounding the Blue Tigers, 50-28, including a 17-10 edge in offensive rebounds. UCM outscored Lincoln in the paint, 42-34, and 13-5 on second-chance points.

Haylie Holloway tallied 13 points, leading the Blue Tigers.
