NEWTON, Kan. – No. 20-ranked Central Missouri Mules golf fired a final round 15-over par 303 to finish in eighth place out of 16 teams at the Newman Invitational Tuesday, Oct. 18, at Sand Creek Station Golf Course.
The Mules posted a 54-hole team score of 50-over par 914 with round scores of 318, 293 and 303 for their eighth place showing.
Concordia-St. Paul captured the team title with a three-round 29-over par 893 (305-295-293) while Missouri Southern finished second at 32-over par 896 (291-301-304). Northeastern State wrapped up the top-three in third at 34-over par 898 (297-305-296).
Freshman
Andrew Whittaker led the Mules on the individual leaderboard, finishing ninth with a three-round tally of 7-over par 223 (78-73-72) while
Alex Gentry tied for 22nd at 13-over par 229 (82-73-74) and
Calvin Dillon tied for 30th with a 54-hole 15-over par 231 (82-72-77), rounding out the top-30 performances for UCM.
Trey Stone tied for 41st at 17-over par 233 (77-75-81) and
Robert Sager tied for 49th at 20-over par 236 (81-75-80), wrapping up the Central Missouri scoring.
Arkansas Tech's Jackson Cole took home individual medalist accolades after posting a three-round, 1-under par 215 (73-71-71).
Central Missouri is slated to wrap up the fall portion of its schedule Oct. 24-25 at The Tulsa Cup at The Club at Indian Springs in Broken Arrow, Okla.
