ST. JOSEPH, Mo. -- The No. 20-ranked University of Central Missouri Mules golf team finished eighth at the Holiday Inn Express Classic Tuesday, Oct. 11.
The tournament was played on St. Joseph Country Club and was a 54-hole, two-day tournament. The Mules finished day one in eighth place after shooting 308 (24-over par) and 298 (14-over par) for a combined 606 (38-over par). They played their last 18-holes at 17-over par 301 for a three-round total of 907 (55-over par). Northeastern State won the tournament by three strokes, shooting a combined three-day total 861 (9-over par). Missouri Southern took second place, shooting a three-round score of 864 (12-over par). Washburn rounded out the top three teams, shooting 870 (18-over par).
Calvin Dillon led the Mules finishing tied for 20th. Dillon improved each round of the tournament shooting 75 (+4), 74 (+3), 73 (+2) for a three round total 9-over par 222.
Freshman
Andrew Whittaker came in second for the Mules after shooting a three-round total score 14-over par 227. He finished tied for 32nd.
Caleb Peters shot a three-round score 16-over par 229 combining scores of 79 (+8), 76 (+5), and 74 (+3). He took 40th place individually.
Trey Stone and
Robert Sager wrapped up the Mules scores. Stone finished tied for 48th, shooting a three-round total of 21-over par 234. Sager shot a combined 23-over par 236 to take 51st place.
The Mules are back on the road October 17-18 for the Newman Jet Invitational at Sand Creek Station Golf Course in Newton, Kan.
